Over the years, the gaming industry has seen a rise in FPS games from AAA developers, some of which have earned a spot as thebest FPS games ever. But, there has also been a rise in Indie developers that have created unique FPS experiences for the gaming community, likeInsurgencyorReady or Not. These games may not receive the same attention as other popular FPS games, but their unique gameplay mechanics has allowed them to build a decent fanbase.

Another intriguing FPS developed by an Indie game developer (Milkstone Studios) isZiggurat 2, which is essentially a Doom-like game mixed with fantasy-style elements. And, as with other FPS games,Ziggurat 2has unique weapons that let players tackle enemies however they desire, from staves to guns filled with alchemy-based ammo. But, with so many to choose from, players will want to know which ones are worth using.
7Retribution - Alchemy
Damage:
The Retribution is one of the many Alchemy-based weapons featured inZiggurat 2, and while it may seemlike an average blunderbuss, it’s a powerful magical weapon. The Retribution’s basic attacks are explosive rockets that deal massive AOE damage to enemies, which is handy against a swarm of Carrots.
Moreover, its secondary attack shoots three homing missiles at nearby enemies. As a bonus, the Retribution has a passive effect that increases item pickup distance by 20%. The only major flaw of this blunderbuss is its long reload animation, which is why it’s not ranked higher.

6Skull Of Xanatos - Spell
In most fantasy-style video games, magic trumps physical-based weapons, and inZiggurat 2, it’s no different since Spells are the best in the game. The Skull of Xanatos is the perfect ranged spell attack since users can cast and forget, meaning that it automatically chases targets.
And once the main fiery skull hits an enemy, it breaks into smaller skulls dealing even more damage. Skull of Xanatos also has two useful effects: Mana Recovery (recover mana over time) and Mana Boosts (increases mana pool). This Spell goes well with the Mana Stone amulet, one of the many powerful amulets found inZiggurat 2.

5Lich Breath - Spell
Players that want to feel like a true Lich King will want to use this potent Curse spell that can wreak havoc on groups of enemies. Lich Breath’s primary attack releases an orb that pierces through several enemies before disappearing, which is why it’s great to use against large hordes of enemies.

But, players will need to be ready to use lots of mana potions since it’s a mana-hungry spell (3 Mana per cast). The good news is that once players level Lich Breath, it’ll use less mana per cast, but until then, players should consider having a secondary weapon on hand.
4Firestorm Grenade - Alchemy
The Firestorm Grenade is a unique Alchemy-type grenade that excels at setting enemies on fire. Its secondary attack unleashes several smaller grenades that create small pools of fire, which will set anyone who steps in it on fire. This alchemy grenade has a unique passive that increases the fire damage output by 10%, making it the weapon of choice for players that enjoy using fire-based amulets.
But, all that fiery explosion comes at a price since it can damage players too close to the initial blast. Fortunately, its Special Effect boosts armor for a set amount of time, but only after a player defeats five enemies.

3Twin Fangs - Staff
As the name suggests, Twin Fangs shoots two poisonous bolts of magic that have a 10% chance of causing poison (reminiscent of Miraak’s Staff inThe Elder Scrolls: Skyrim). Its secondary changes its twin bolts for bombs filled with poison that will explode after a few seconds. But, the real reason why this Staff should be considered one of the best weapons inZiggurat 2is that after defeating an enemy, there’s a slight chance that they explode, dealing massive poison damage.
Unfortunately, the Twin Fangs staff has a slight disadvantage: it takes 22 seconds to charge one attack. So, players will need to carefully plan their attacks since they can be overrun by fast enemies like the Hobgoblin or Reanimated Prisoner.

Despite having a low damage output (12x5), the Undead Scepter is a decent staff that players should consider using during the early levels inZiggurat 2. And that’s because the Undead Scepter uses only 1.2 Mana per shot, making it ideal for the first couple of levels where Mana potions are scarce.

Furthermore, every hit has a chance to cause the Curse status effect, which is among one of the strongest status effects inZiggurat 2. And to top it all off, the Undead Scepter grants players a temporary boost in Fire Rate after defeating five enemies afflicted with Curse.
1Atlantean Spear - Staff
Undoubtedly, the Atlantean Spear is the best weapon inZiggurat 2since it boasts one of the highest base damages, not to mention it has a Fire Rate of 2.5 seconds. Its primary attack shoots triangle-shaped icicles that have a slight chance of freezing enemies, leaving them vulnerable to a quick and instant death blow.
And its secondary attack transforms the Staff into a Spear which then pierces enemies, which is devastating against heavily armored enemies like Ironclad or Vanguard. While its passive effect isn’t anything too special, its special effect triggers an ice explosion when defeating enemies that are afflicted with Frost. Players can increase the damage by usingone of the many powerful Perksfound inZiggurat 2, preferably ones that increase Staff Damage.

Ziggurat 2is available now for PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
