There’s just one month left until Xbox Series X and Series S make their debut this November, but Xbox’s Games with Gold still continues this October. With every month of Gold since 2013,Xbox Live Goldmembers receive free games as part of their Live subscription. Typically a random assortment of titles, ranging from triple-A games in their twilight to indie delights that deserve attention, there’s always a slew of games made available. September’s Games with Gold includedTom Clancy’s The Division,The Book of Unwritten Tales 2,de Blob 2, andArmed and Dangerous.

With October approaching, there’s a few games that would be perfect for the Games with Gold service. These aren’t predictions for what to expect, rather a selection of games that would likely succeed on the Games with Gold lineup. Considering Xbox’s selections for the lineup are typically nebulous, it’s hard to accurately gauge what will come toXbox’s Games with Goldnext. That being said, here’s a few games that would be perfect for September’s Games with Gold selection.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

After more than a decade,Crash Bandicootis finally receivingan official sequel/new entry withCrash Bandicoot: It’s About Time. Considering the next game in the series is on the way this October, what better way to get acquainted than with whereCrash Bandicootbegan. In the definitive remake, theCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogyrebuilds and bundles the first three originalCrash Bandicootgames together in an HD package. All of the classic platforming levels are almost identical to their original counterparts, aside from the huge visual improvements. Alongside the original offerings are additional bonus levels as well, that ramp the difficulty up a bit more.

Watch Dogs 2

Similarly, theWatch Dogsseries is getting another sequel just a few years after the last game released inWatch Dogs: Legion. However, before moving to London at the end of this month, fans should get a taste ofhow far the series has come withWatch Dogs 2. While the originalWatch Dogsdid have some kinks to work out,Watch Dogs 2largely solved a lot of the problems with the original game. The new protagonist and overall tone of the game didn’t take itself too seriously. Players could hack and manipulate the world around them at ease, alongside a character and story that made sense to do so. BeforeLegion, there was Marcus Holloway’s story inWatch Dogs 2.

Assassin’s Creed 2 (Xbox 360)

There’s a whole bunch of sequels coming out in October, and Ubisoft’s flagship franchise is certainly no different.Assassin’s Creed Valhallawill take players to the Viking Age, but it’s been a long time since players could revisit Ezio’s grand story inAssassin’s Creed 2. Easily the most popular story in the whole franchise so far, the tragic revenge story of Ezio in Renaissance Italy helped cementAssassin’s Creed’s ubiquity in gaming. Parkouring and exploring various iconic cities in Italy was thrilling and fun, plus getting rid of those nasty totalitarian Templars definitely felt good too.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

While Square Enix’sAvengersgame has become the center of attention recently, it’d be awesome for Xbox fans to revisit one of the earliest and best Marvel-licensed games:Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Before loot-based progression was the name of the game,Marvel: Ultimate Alliancewas the hero brawlerthat was most popular. Groups of four heroes from the Marvel universe paired together to fight the enemies of SHIELD led by Doctor Doom. Before licensed superhero games acquired the stigma,Marvel: Ultimate Alliancewas one of the last great brawlers released.

TheXbox Games with Goldhave yet to be announced for October 2020.
