Previously an Xbox exclusive,Party Animalsis coming toPlayStation. First released for Xbox consoles last September,Party Animalswas ultimately nominated for Best Multiplayer and Best Family Game at The Game Awards 2023. Originally, the title was released for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, but it appears that it’s being considered for even more platforms likePlayStation.
Developed by Recreate Games,Party Animalsfeatures23 maps and three different modes, with gameplay similar to titles likeGang Beasts, the 2014 indie party game hit by Boneloaf. As it’s been almost a full decade since the release ofGang Beasts, it seems fitting that titles likeParty Animalsare being released to sate the cravings that many gamers may have for addictive co-op titles. Unfortunately,Party Animalswas somewhat limited, as it was only released on Game Pass-compatible systems.

Recently,a PlayStation listing appearedforParty Animals, indicating that Recreate Games is preparing to target an even wider audience. Gamers are excited at the prospect, and it’s likely thatthe game’s similarities toGang Beastswill convince more players to give it a try. On its PlayStation store page, Recreate Games pitchesParty Animalsas the “best game for a Saturday night with friends.” The title features up to eight-player online multiplayer and shared split-screen play.
Party Animals Seems to be Heading for PlayStation
From its 2023 release,Party Animalshas received plenty of positive reception, in addition to some that seem mixed on the title. Some players have pointed out that the game’s controls are particularly sluggish. Other players have noted that the title hasn’t added a ton since its release, hampering its replayability for those wanting fresh content. Despite these hiccups, many players enjoy the game’s visual design and slapstick humor.
In the case of ports like this one, it’s a possibility that Recreate Games is considering adding more content to keep the title fresh. In some cases, new content can be version-exclusive, likeDLC costumes in the Nintendo Switch port ofNier: Automata.Party Animals' presence on new platforms opens up the possibility for it to show up on the Switch, which has been advertised as the perfect party-game console by Nintendo. Players can hopefully look forward to seeingParty Animalson even more systems in the future.
