At NXT Stand & Deliver, a special event that took place during WrestleMania weekend, Nash Carter and his partner Wes Lee won the NXT Tag Team Championships. Mere days later, Carter and Lee had to vacate the titles asCarter was released from his WWE contract. Carter’s release came about after an image was posted on social media by his estranged wife Kimber Lee that showed him with a Hitler-style mustache and doing a Nazi salute. Kimber Lee also accused Carter of domestic abuse.
Prior to Nash Carter’s release, he was expected to be added to the massiveWWE 2K22roster as DLC. More specifically, Carter was meant to be added to the game as part of the Stand Back DLC pack on June 7, which also includes Hurricane Helms, Stacy Keibler, A-Kid, and Carter’s partner Wes Lee. Amid Carter’s release and the controversy associated with it, the question was how exactlyWWE 2K22would handle it.

In a statement to Sports Gamers Online, 2K has confirmed that Nash Carter will not be added toWWE 2K22as part of theStand Back Pack. In its statement, 2K said that this was done to provide “the most authentic representation of the WWE universe.” Nash Carter will not be replaced in theWWE 2K22Stand Back Pack, meaning it will now only add four wrestlers to the roster instead of five as previously planned.
While Nash Carter is not being replaced in theWWE 2K22Stand Back Pack, 2K is looking to sweeten the pot a bit for fans who may be disappointed that they are only getting four new wrestlers now instead of five. The Stand Back Pack will now include the Booker T EVO and Seth Rollins EmeraldMyFaction cardsto soften the blow a bit.
Ultimately, Nash Carter was only ever featured on NXT, and it’s unlikely that manyWWE 2K22fans were going to use him regularly in the game anyway. Even so, it can be disappointing forWWE 2K22season pass holdersthat they aren’t getting less wrestlers than was originally advertised. What’s weird is that there are two upcoming packs with more than five wrestlers, as the Clowning Around pack features Doink the Clown, Ronda Rousey, The British Bulldog, Mr. T, Doudrop, and Rick Boogs, while the Whole Dam Pack features Rob Van Dam, Logan Paul, Machine Gun Kelly, LA Knight, Xia Li, Commander Azeez, and Sarray. One would think an easy solution for this problem would be to take one of the wrestlers reserved for a future pack and move them over to the Stand Back Pack, but it’s possible that work on those wrestlers wouldn’t be done in time for the Stand Back Pack to meet its June 7 release date.
WWE 2K22is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
