Summary
World of Warcrafthas had a problem with its old world for a little while now, and each expansion seems to make that problem worse. Usually, Blizzard will introduce a new zone with the launch of a new expansion, and that expansion’s story will take place primarily within the confines of that zone. This has been the constant loop for years, and it has left much of Azeroth barren. It has madeWorld of Warcraftfeel smaller than it should be, but a recent quest line aims to fix that.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflighthas been a fantastic experienceafter the controversial Shadowlands. Not only has it brought the story back to Azeroth, but its consistent content stream has also given players a reason to keep coming back for more. The story has not been half bad either, and the new Blue Dragonflight questline helps cement that fact. It sends players across the planet to recruit many interesting characters, and that goes a long way in making Azeroth feel alive again.

The Blue Dragonflight Quests Gives Azeroth a Purpose
World of Warcraft’s 10.1 patchwas mostly focused on the Black Dragonflight and their search for a new aspect, but Blizzard also included a fun side story centered on the Blue Dragonflight. Now that the blue dragons have reclaimed their homeland, Kalecgos seeks to reunite the flight once more. To accomplish this, he needs the help of the player, Sindragosa, and Senegos. What ensues is a thrilling adventure across Azeroth that players will not want to miss.
This new Blue Dragonflight quest chainis split up into multiple chapters with each chapter taking place in a different part of Azeroth. Players must head off to Winterspring, Theramore Isle, Booty Bay, Crystalsong Forest, and the Jade Forest to convince members of the Blue Dragonflight to come to the Dragon Isles. Each dragon seems to be dealing with their own problems that the player must help with, and many of these problems seem to be caused by events fromWorld of Warcraft’s history.
Once players finish each chapter, they are then treated to a final chapterseeping with Blue Dragonflight lore. The newly reunited dragons must assist in calming the spirits of Malygos and Sindragosa so that they can finally rest.World of Warcraftveterans should know exactly why these spirits are so restless, and the quest also does a very good job explaining it to those who may be unfamiliar with the story. It is a very heartfelt adventure that even ends on a surprising but beautiful moment that players will want to witness for themselves.
This new Blue Dragonflight quest chain is a joy to play, and it is made even better by the fact that itactually uses the rest of Azeroth. The story is not confined to the Dragon Isles, but instead it brings players to some of the most iconic older zones. It lets them re-explore regions on Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend, and Pandaria. The four largest continents with zones that have mostly been left to gather dust, but now they have been put front and center again.
World of Warcraftstill has a major problem when it comes to its older zones, but it is nice to see Blizzard trying to rectify that situation. The game is supposed to feel like it exists in this massive fantasy world, but each expansion makes that world feel smaller. Hopefully, this Blue Dragonflight quest line is just the first step in making that world feel alive again. The next expansion will be Blizzard’s chance to finally change its approach, but players will just have to wait and see.
