World of Warcraftjust confirmed its plans to open up almost every race and class combination in the future. While it has given no timetable for this process,World of Warcraftplayers can rest easy knowing they will eventually be able to play nearly every class with any race.
Patch 10.1.5, Fractures in Time, has continuedWorld of Warcraft’s recent trend of opening certain classes up to every playable race in the game. Associate quest designer Noah Smith recently appeared in a short video talking about what he did to help makethe Warlock class available to all races inWoW.

However, near the beginning of the video, Smith mentionsWorld of Warcraftis in fact working on making it so that all races will be able to play every class. Many players suspected this was the case, especially considering the fact that expansions likeCataclysm,Shadowlands, andDragonflighthave gradually been doing so. That said, this is the first timeWoWhas officially confirmed its intentions to remove these race-class restrictions entirely.
Players can assume this will not include the Demon Hunter or Evoker classes. Demon Hunters have unique voicelines and specific lore that would make it challenging forWorld of Warcraftto open them to other classes, and many abilities used byDragonflight’s new Evoker classare tied to the specific biology of the Dracthyr. Technically, Dracthyr could eventually get access to otherWoWclasses, but players shouldn’t expect it any time soon.
The only three base classes not available to everyrace inWorld of Warcraftyet are the Paladin, Druid, and Shaman. Between Paladin Divine Steeds, Druid’s Shapeshifting forms, and Shaman Totems, each of these classes require unique models to be made for each individual race. Keeping this in mind, players can probably expect Paladin or Shaman to be next, with Druid likely being the final class to get this treatment.
The baseDragonflightexpansion opened up the Mage, Rogue, and Priest to all races, and Patch 10.0.7 did the same for the Monk class. Considering Patch 10.1.5 made Warlocks playable by every race, it is possibleWorld of Warcraftcould open up another class in Patch 10.2.5 or 10.2.7. That said,WoWhas yet to reveal any information about these updates yet. Right now, the only thingWorld of Warcraftplayers can be certain of is that these options are coming sometime in the future.
World of Warcraftis available now for PC.
