WandaVisionis off to a fine start over on Disney Plus, with the superhero sitcom finally bringing back the MCU for the beginning of its long-awaited phase four. While the show’s perplexing plot and setup won’t be sorted out until later episodes, a lot more is being said of howWandaVisioncame to be.
Perhaps one of themost intriguing aspects ofWandaVisionis just exactly how and why Vision is alive considering he died tragically at the end ofAvengers: Infinity Warand evenPaul Bettany himself believed he was outof the picture at times; there’s the apparent lack of action scenes and how Marvel’s usual flair; and there’s even questions surrounding what happened to Elizabeth Olsen marked Sokovian accent.

If all these seem somewhat puzzling, then imagine having to think about all of this for almost two years. In a recent sit down for IMDb, Olsen and Bettany went back and forth on an ‘ask me anything’ addressing several topics related to the show, including a potential after-credits scene inAvengers: Endgamewhere Wanda Maximoff recognized her partner’s lifeless body, that was pulled by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige much to Bettany’s dismay because he “really wanted that profit participation!”
Avengers: Endgameis a bit of an oddityin the MCU as the movie does not contain a post or mid-credits scene, unlike the 21 Marvel films that had preceded it, though it does include anIron Maneaster egg sound. Of course, one of the likely reasons why Feige opted to cut these shots Bettany is referring to might be the movie’s runtime totaling over 3 hours of footage already, without a confusing WandaVision-themed scene added on top of it.
Even so, withhow complex of a television showWandaVisionis setting up to be, there’s also the possibility that Feige believed the miniseries was simply not being served proper justice this way as a simple teaser.WandaVision’smind-bending storyline and the fact that it’s intertwined withDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesssuggest any outcome is fair game at this point.
On topSpider-Man 3’smultiverse-oriented plot,Feige’s plans forWandaVisionare playing out quite spectacularly thanks to the platform provided by Disney Plus, as according to him the show simply would have never worked in movie format.
