Players will recruit many characters as they work through the first few areas inUnicorn Overlord, and they can be put together to create a tremendous number of units. While fans are definitely encouraged to experiment with different team comps, some players may feel overwhelmed by the plethora of options that are available to them upon reaching the mid-game. This guide is written with that group of players in mind, and it will help them put together some extremely powerful mid-game units inUnicorn Overlord.
The completion of Drakenhold and the unlocking of promotions marks the beginning of the mid-game for the purposes of this guide. As such, players who have not yet reached that point are advised to peruse the information that is contained within thisUnicorn Overlordearly game team comps guideand return to this more advanced guide later.

Alain (High Lord), Renault (Great Knight), Clive (Great Knight), Sharon (Bishop)
Basics
This unit is an absolute powerhouse, using Alain’s incredible tanking and Sharon’s healing to support the staggering offense that Renault and Clive are capable of mounting. While this team comp may not be particularly exciting, as it is constructed simply to allow some ofUnicorn Overlord’s most powerful charactersto shine, players who want to dominate the battlefield should definitely have it at the ready.
Tactics
This team comp focuses more on raw power than creating elaborate synergies between skills, which means that players need not spend a great deal of time fine-tuning their tactics. That said, there are some obvious refinements that should be made, like making sure that Alain’sLean Edge targets the enemy with the lowest health, and that Renault and Clive’sPile Thrust and Assaulting Lance do the same. Those conditions are depicted in the images that are above, and they definitely improve the unit’s overall efficacy in battle.
Equipment
There is a great deal of flexibility with the equipment that is required for this team comp, though fans oftactical RPGsshould be looking to strike a balance between equipment that increases the characters' AP/PP and equipment that allows them to excel in their role. With respect to that first group of equipment,Carnelian Pendants, Lapis Pendants, Sapphire Pendants, and Ruby Pendantsare all great options, while items like theWarrior’s Pendantfit nicely into the second group.
It is recommended that players equip Reanult with aDancer’s Braceletand set it to target Clive to improve his Wild Rushes.
Celeste (Gryphon Master), Berengaria (Dark Maruqess), Hilda (Wyvern Master), Yahna (Sorceress)
This unit focuses on using multi-target afflictions to repeatedly trigger Berengaria’s Sanguine Pursuit passive skill. This is accomplished with the help of Hilda’s Fire Breath, which inherently inflicts burn upon a row of enemies, and Celeste’s High Swing (after it has been buffed by Yahna’s Ice Conferral).
Yahna must have aFrostbrand Tome, an accessory that can be found in thetower that is adjacent to the Lebouge Hamlet in southern Cornia, equipped to use Ice Conferral.
The goals when setting tactics for this team comp are to inflict afflictions upon as many enemies as possible while also allowing Berengaria to hit those enemies with Sanguine Pursuit before the affliction is broken. This means making sure that Yahna only uses Ice Conferral on Celeste before she performs a High Swing, setting Fire Breath and High Swing to target rows with the most combatants, and restricting skills that might break a freeze.Unicorn Overlordplayerscan use the images that are above to set all those conditions, though they should certainly feel free to experiment with adjustments.
This unit is primarily intended to play asupport role, giving players access to two very powerfulUnicorn OverlordValor Skills:Aubin’s Vitalize and Chloe’s Life Aid. Indeed, those two skills are capable of keeping offensively-minded teams going almost indefinitely, and Ochlys' Leader Effect allows the unit to easily move between teams that are in need.
The unit need not only act as support, though, as players can use its fourth slot to shore up battles with which their other teams might struggle. This could mean filling the slot with a Warrior/Breaker to deal with armor-focused units, or one ofUnicorn Overlord’s ranged charactersto dispatch opposing flyers.
There are no strict equipment requirements for this unit, as it is not looking to create specific synergies in battle. That said,Vanillawarefans are strongly advised to equip Ochlys with items that focus onevasion, such as theSilken Scarf, to make sure that she is able to fulfill her duties as a tank.
