InAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, whether the fans choose to play as Alexios or Kassandra (or even both in different playthroughs), they will meet a lot of fascinating characters who sometimes have tragic stories to tell, and other times…well, they are just a lot of fun! In any case, the NPCs inAssassin’s Creed Odysseyoffer a lot of important information, but unfortunately, sometimes that’s all they do.

It’s a big shame becausethere are a lot of charactersthat the players really wanted to know better, but they didn’t manage to get either the screen time or the story time they truly deserved, so the fans are only left with those bright glimpses of them.

6Brasidas

Brasidas is a true historical figure (like many in the game) and he was one terrific Spartan military officer that didn’t let anything pass by his attention and was touchingly loyal to his friends and allies, defending them with all that he had.

Even though Brasidas was a fierce warrior, in a battle with Deimos (Kassandra’s or Alexios’sevil twin sister or brother), he ends up impaled with his own spear by the hand of Deimos, thus, ending his story in the game in such an undeserving way. Thankfully, he later got an annual event in his name, to celebrate and honor him.

5Barnabas

The tough captain of Adrestia, Barnabas is a loyal friend to the player, with very important connections everywhere, since he was a soldier before he became a naval captain. He and the player go through many adventures together, although because of his age, Barnabas chooses to be the guide more than a companion to the fights.

He frequentlyhas a lot of great adviceand wise words to share with the player, such as “When the time is right, we always get to go home,” and “A bird can fly away for seasons, but it will always recognize its nest when it returns,” which is his way of helping the hero find where they belong. Even though the player meets them a lot during the game, they never truly learn about Barnabas’ many adventures from the past, which is a big disappointment.

4Testikles

The game writers must have been really inspired when they wrote the character of Testikles. Even though it is rumored that the name derives from the Latin word “testis” which means “witness” and the ancient word “kleos” which means “glory” (making it something like “witness my glory”), it is possible that there is not a person out there who thought that it means something quite different. It doesn’t help that his half-brother is named Testiklos the Nut.

Tragically, before the players have a chance to properly get acquainted with the interesting (although heavily drunk) Testikles, he missteps and then falls into the water by accident, then drowns, and then is attacked by sharks. What an ending!

3Pythia

Pythia hassuch an interesting mytheven before the player meets her that it is normal to expect that her story would be bigger and way more interesting. Pythia is one of the oracles and was forced by the Cult of Kosmos to deliver prophecies to the visitors of Apollo’s temple.

When she meets with the player, she reveals everything to Kassandra/Alexios and then goes away to a safer place to hide from the Cult. Then, when she is recognized and blackmailed, Kassandra/Alexios help them again. For such a famous oracle, her story is disappointing, to say the least, showing that she had no real power and was just a pawn in the Cult’s game.

2Daphnae

She is the leader of the mighty Daughters of Artemis, who are seeking legendary beasts. She meets with the player right before the battle with the Kalydonian Boar, which has a lot of great playersscreaming with angerat their screens. As if that wasn’t enough, when the battle ends, Daphnae tells the player that since they are so good at it, they should huntall the legendary animals.

Daphnae can also be a love interest for the player, which a lot of them choose to explore. Unfortunately, the ending of the story is not as nice, since Daphnae decides that she wants to fight the player to the death, to decide who will be the next leader of the Daughters of Artemis. Whichever the choice is, the ending is not a happy one.

1Alkibiades

One of the most interesting characters in the whole ofAssassin’s Creed Odysseyhas to be Alkibiades. A lot of fans might find him slightly annoying, but that’s the whole point of his persona: he is extravagant and obnoxious, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t be a good friend to the people that understand and accept him.

Alkibiades is also a verypopular romantic interestin the game, as the player, whether theyplay as Alexios or Kassandra, has the option to sleep with him multiple times in different parts of the game. Unfortunately, even though the player gets to meet him multiple times and work with him, he is not that important to the story.
