Naughty Dog has released Patch 1.0.2.0 for the PC port ofThe Last of Us Part 1, fixing even more bugs from the original release. PC gamers had waited a decade to get their hands onThe Last of Us, but so far the experience has been far away from the expected quality.

The release ofThe Last of Us Part 1on PC has been anything but smooth, with players reporting a wide range of issues plaguing the long-awaited title. With hour-long loading times, poor frame rates, and absurd glitches, it’s hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel for Naughty Dog. Oneglitch forThe Last of Uson PC even turned Bill’s home into a rave, which is an extremely odd experience for new, unexpecting players to discover.

The newest patch notes forThe Last of Us Part 1were posted to the official Naughty Dog website, and promise a host of fixes to the game which remains a mess on the platform.Another patch for the PC version ofThe Last of Uswas released a few days ago, but it appears that there’s still a long way to go until it’s of the standard expected upon release. This newer update notably updates texture streaming to reduce CPU usage, which was one of the bigger complaints of the port. The degree to which the 1.0.2.0 fixes are effective will only become apparent as players test the update in the coming days.

The current state ofThe Last of Uson PC is unfortunate, however there were signs that it wasn’t entirely smooth sailing during development. The port was handled by Iron Galaxy, a studio best known forBatman: Arkham Knight’s disastrous PC port back in 2015. As well as this,The Last of Uson PC was delayed in early Februaryto give the game a few more weeks in development. In hindsight, it seems like this delay was an attempt to avoid disaster, a move that hasn’t worked out for the studio. There can only be speculation about the state the game would have been released in, had it stuck to its original March 3 release date.

The bad press comes at a bad time forThe Last of Us. The franchise had built up mainstream goodwill with the success of HBO’s TV adaptation, and it’s a needless stain on the series' reputation after such a period of excitement. Despite it all,The Last of Usis still getting a Season 2, and for many the woes of the PC port won’t be enough to deter their excitement. In the meantime, Naughty Dog remains tight-lipped about the potential of aLast of Us Part 3, and it’s assumed that the developer will look into fixing the PC port of the original before discussing any future plans further.
