Cameron Crovetti hasn’t played too big of a role in theAmazon Primehit showThe Boysyet, but knowing how his character relates to the main characters, that could change by the time the show’s fourth season starts. Crovetti, who plays Homelander’s son Ryan, recently reflected on his character’s crucial decision at the end of the show’s third season.

The season 3 finale ofThe Boyswas an eventful one, to say the least.Among the notable events was Ryan Butcher’s decision toreturn to Homelander, his father.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Crovetti expressed his excitement to see where Ryan goes next now that the show has implied that Ryan will not only be by his father’s side but also appears to be picking up on Homelander’s violent tendencies. Crovetti voiced his ecstasy, as well as his concern, about where the show goes next with him as Homelander’s one offspring. “I’m very excited to see what they do with my character,” Crovetti said. “Ryan has always been iffy with who he’s going to be with, Butcher or Homelander? Which one is he going to go with as his father figure? It kind of hints that he’s going to go with Homelander and he might not be so good in the next season.”

Ryan has typically been a major player only in the finale of each ofThe Boys' three seasons. His revealed well-being served as the first season’s major twist, as it turned out that afterHomelander has impregnated Becca Butcher, both he and Becca were alive and well while being hidden by Vought from the psychopathic supe. He then was the one who stopped Stormfront after the Nazi antagonist was in the process of choking out Becca to take Ryan herself. Now, he serves as the one person Homelander has any ounce of care for. With Homelander having Ryan all to himself, there’s no telling what will happen next with the prepubescent supe.

It gives even more intrigue to the show now that Ryan will probably be more involved from here on out. Homelander very clearly wants to be genuinely loved, but until Ryan was born, the catch-22 with his desire was that he had no equal in the show and everyone who knew him was terrified of him. Now that he has Ryan on his side (for now),Homelander’s role as a fathercould actually start to progress him into something better than he is. Homelander is easily the most detestable character in the show, but he has demonstrated that he loves his son and wants to do what’s best for him.

So that only leaves how Ryan will react to learning from his father’s actions. Ryan has shown that he has some sense of right and wrong. Unlike his father, he was for a time raised in a healthy environment with people who care about his well-being more than they care about him reaching his potential. However, he is at that age where his mind is still malleable. Homelander cares about Ryan but doesn’t know much about caring for someone in a healthy manner. The only thing worse than Homelander is two Homelanders, and if that’s where this goes,The Boys' universe is headed for Armageddon.
