Summary

WithThe Boysspinoff,Gen V, coming out in a matter of days, the cast from the original show welcomed the newbies in the most fitting way possible - by flipping them off. At the same time, everyone gives contradictory advice to the new kids in a video. The video also does not make it clear if these are the actors speaking to the new generation or if it’s the characters that they play.

Everyone featured in the video first congratulated the newGen Vcast for being added toThe Boysuniverse before welcoming them with their patented middle finger. They then hear “words of wisdom” from the original cast, though it’s unclear who is talking to them - their actor or the character they play.

The video features Jack Quaid (Hughie), Erin Moriarty (Annie), Antony Starr (Homelander),Jessie T. Usher(A-Train), Colby Minifie (Ashley), Claudia Domit (Victoria), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko) and Cameron Crovetti (Ryan). The video comes off as intentionally confusing because while Quaid talks about the teasers from the footage, thus indicating that it’s Quaid who’s speaking, Minifie talks about how she won’t clean up the young supes' messes, thus coming off like she’s playing Ashley. At the same time, Fukuhara, who plays a character who doesn’t talk, advises about Vought, while, of course, Ashley gives contradictory advice about Vought, seeing as she’s their CEO.

Whether they were playing themselves or the characters they portray, the advice they offer still fits withinThe Boys’tone because of how gruesome the show is. It also points out Vought’s corruption, which is sure to spill out into Godolkin University, or as they call themselves, GodU. Funny enough,Quaid was shouted out byGen Vstar Jaz Sinclair, whom he advised on how to deal with all the crazy (not to mentiondisturbing) shenanigans that they do on the show.

Fans should be excited forGen Vbecause this time, it won’t be a team of anti-supe experts exposing the dirty little secrets of Vought. Instead, the young supes themselves may see what’s wrong with the university they attend. This could provide a better tomorrow for the world, as the superheroes in this world may not become celebrities who have skeletons in their closet like the ones inThe Boysdo. IfStarlight and her heart of goldcan figure out the inner workings of Vought, then so can the supes that follow in her footsteps, especially after what she had done in season 3.

Let’s hope thatGen Vbrings something new to the table. They have a new setting with a different coterie of superheroes this time. However, they need to fit tone-wise withThe Boysuniverse while also bringing some fresh material, which may be easier said than done knowing the bar their predecessor set. However, they deserve the benefit of the doubt because ifThe Boyscan remain fresh three seasons in, so can their spinoffs.
