A teacher was fired after former guild members allegedly contacted his school and sent over videos of his streams that were circulated to students and faculty. The teacher goes by the name Blue_Squadron when streaming on Twitch or creating content for YouTube and various social media platforms. A relatively modest following has allowed Blue_Squadron to keep his career and personal life separate before the recent incident, but things have since erupted both online and at the school where he formerly taught. Following the unfortunate events, Blue_Squadron released a video explaining his side of the story.
According to Blue_Squadron, the catalyst behind the entire event is a dispute between him and his former guild inBlack Desert Online, a sandbox MMORPG. The falling-out led to Blue_Squadron ultimately being removed from his guild, and one ofthe first things to know aboutBlack Desert Onlineis that guilds are essentially a requirement for those who want to achieve any level of success in the game. Blue_Squadron claims the guild didn’t stop there; they also sent clips of his streams to the school where he used to work. Not long after that, he was let go.
What has enraged so many online is that they don’t think Blue_Squadron did anything egregiously offensive. According to the content creator, his streams feature some colorful language and questionable behavior for a classroom setting, but he claims this is why he kept these two parts of his life separate for as long as he could. Blue_Squadron has even been featured in a video from Asmongold,one of the most-watched Twitch streamersout there, giving more backstory to the recent controversy.
The community has been vocal when it comes to what they deem to beunfair Twitch bansin the past, but this is something different as it affects the hobbyist’s outside career. It seems as though Blue_Squadron now has a new job, as he states he will be focusing on starting his career as a content creator and presumably increasing his streaming frequency onTwitch.
