Subnautica: Below Zero is very much its own game with its own identity in terms of storyline and location. But – thankfully, for many fans of the first title – itborrows a ton of elements and gameplay mechanics from its predecessor. There are some new and refreshing things that players will need to figure out, but most of the harvesting, exploration, combat, and building mechanics have stayed the same.

This includes finding and collecting creature eggs. There are a variety of new organisms lurking in the depths of the arctic and Subnautic: Below Zero adds even more entries to theexpansive amount of life found on Planet 4546B. Players out there that want to preserve all the life they come across or are simply completionists, will want to track down every egg they possibly can in each area.
What Are Eggs Used For?
Players will likely stumble across an egg or two from general exploration but what exactly are they used for? The biggest plus to incubating and hatching fauna is that a normally aggressive creature will become docile,giving players a chance to scan it completely without being attacked. It’s also possible to incubate eggs to gain crafting materials from the fully-grown creatures that hatch from them.

Eggs can also be used asfuel for the Bioreactorbut it’s important to note that they will never provide as much fuel as a fully-grown creature. For this reason, it’s not recommended to farm eggs for fuel and they should only be tossed into the Bioreactor in emergency scenarios.
Any “baby” fauna that is hatched and then placed into the open water will instantly grow to full size. It’s also possible for eggs to be destroyed, and they’re incredibly fragile.
Where To Find Every Egg
Finding all of the eggs available in Subnautic: Below Zero will take some time. Whenever an egg is placed into incubation, it’s labeled as “unknown.” Only when it hatches will its name change. This can create a pretty big headache for players that don’t know exactly what each egg looks like.
