Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhas been well-received by players and critics alike but many have wondered if EA would invest in a sequel to the game. It now seems thatJedi: Fallen Ordermay provide a new hope for players who want more Star Wars adventures. The sales for the game have been impressive and the developer, Respawn, appears to be keen to create more games in the Star Wars universe.
Respawn’s Brand Strategy Director, Charlie Houser, has discussed the future of the series. Houser simply answered “yes” when asked whether the developer would be interested in continuing the franchise. Houser later expanded on his answer, explaining that the team had a “blast” making the game and that its future was dependant on its reception.Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhas certainly had a positive receptionand it looks like the game could provide EA with some much needed positive press.

Electronic Arts have made a number of games with the Star Wars license but mechanics such as loot boxes have held back titles likeBattlefront. Pleasing fans has also been tricky for the recent Star Wars film sequels too, and althoughStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhasn’t avoided all criticism it has certainly been better received that most contemporary Star Wars products.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderhas met the first criteria for a sequel, it has sold well. In fact,Jedi: Fallen Orderhas had the fastest-selling digital launch in Star Wars history. This is an impressive achievement when compared to theBattlefrontgames which had far more marketing as well as a legacy from previous games. Not only are the sales of the game significant, but Respawn has already stated that they would like to create more of these games.
EA has had many fans asking for a Star Wars game without microtransactions. Not only have they delivered this, butJedi: Fallen Orderprovides a rich world with plenty of nods to the Star Wars franchise as a whole. Many players will now want to see more Star Wars games with this detail and perhaps most importantly without loot boxes. If EA can do this, it will not only reflect well on the company but it could start an exciting franchise of its own.
