Ahsoka Tano is getting a live-actionStar Warsseries that will be streaming on Disney Plus. This show will be another in the long list of upcoming spin-off series for the fan-favorite sci-fi space drama franchise, but a new reports claims fans will have to wait a long time beforeAhsokais released.
Ahsoka Tano was introduced toStar Warsin the animatedThe Clone Warsfilm and TV series, in which she wasvoiced by Ashley Eckstein. Fans have been excessively asking for Ahsoka Tano to be brought into a live-actionStar Warsshow or movie because the character quickly grew to be loved by fans as they watched her go from a hot-headed, brash, immature Padawan into a calm, level-headed, and tactical Jedi master.

A report from Production Weekly indicatesAhsokawill begin filing in March 2022, just four months from now. The Bespin Bulletin is reporting that “Ahsokawill film up until the Fall of 2022 and is currently aiming to release around the Spring of 2023 exclusively on Disney+.” Earlier reports have said that cameras will begin shooting in early 2022, while other series such asObi-Wan Kenobi,The Mandalorianseason 3, andAndorare already set for a Disney Plus release in 2022. Fans got to see the first-ever live-action incarnation of Ahsoka in the recent season ofThe Mandalorian. In the live-actionStar Warsprojects, Ahsoka Tano is played by Rosario Dawson, who will reprise her role for the character’s solo series.
Ahsokawill continue Disney and Lucasfilm’s growing roster of shows that stray away from the Skywalker saga of the mainStar Warsfilms. For example,Star Wars: Visionsbrought the franchise into the animeworld for the first time. Hopefully,Star Warscontinues to explore more of its world and maybe focus on different eras in the timeline. There are plenty of stories with Darth Vader that can be explored and will tide fans over until Disney and Lucasfilm figure out how to continue the movie side of the franchise.
Unlike most of the other characters inStar Wars(withthe exception of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan, and Luke) fans don’t really get to see Jedi characters who grow up from adolescence and reach their prime in adulthood. Ahsoka is the first nonhuman character who fans watched go through all the trials and tribulations of becoming a Jedi.
Ahsokawill also be the first live-action spin-off that only focuses on a Jedi. This will further develop her character and explain what she’s been through during the moments that weren’t shown to fans. Maybe this will inspire future spin-offs for other characters and a potential Sith Lord story.
