Splatoon 3has announced that a Splatfest will be held for the Halloween holiday this month, complete with new outfits for the players, as well as the idols Deep Cut and the Squid Sisters. This marks the first time Splatoween has been held sinceSplatoon 2.

Players have been anxious to learn if a Halloween Splatfest would be held inSplatoon 3this year after it was skipped in 2022. Fans have frequently expressed their desire to see Halloween celebrations in Splatsville as the holiday has drawn closer. Now Nintendo has revealed that it’s been busy making the upcoming Halloween Splatfest special.

OnSplatoon 3’s official social media channels, Nintendo announced the date, theme, and new goodies players can expect. The Halloween Splatfest will begin on October 27 5 pm PT and end at October 29 5 pm PT. The theme this time around is “Which Would Be the Best Friend?” and the choices are spooky-themed, with Shiver leading Team Zombie, Frye with Team Skeleton, and Big Man with Team Ghost. To match the theme, each idol will feature a new design for the event, with Shiver wearing dramatic Undead Geisha-like red make-up, Frye wearing shimmery chains and wrist bangles, and Big Man all but turned into a ghost. The Squid Sisters back in Inkopolis will also be wearing unique Halloween recolors for those who own theSplatoon 3Expansion Pass.

With the idols and town decked out for Halloween, it’s only fitting that the players get some unique loot, too. Fans will likely be excited to learn that several new cosmetics are being added to the game for the event, which will be unlockable from the Nintendo Switch channel closer to the Splatfest. These cosmetics include the Mummy-inspired Undead Head, Kraken Swim Reaper, Pirate The Plankton Walker, and Bleak Beak Plague Mask.Splatoon 2also added free cosmetics for its Splatoweenevent, but these are new designs that haven’t appeared before.

At this time, Nintendo has not announced which map will be featured for Tri-Color Turf Wars, or if the event will have multiples like with the most recent Splatfest. However, the update team also revealed thatMahi-Mahi Resortis getting reworked, and will be unavailable in standard rotations from October 15 to October 17.

It remains to be seen if players will upset the currentShiver Splatfest winning streak. Regardless of which team wins, though, it should provide some spooky fun for players that has been greatly missed sinceSplatoon 2.
