The actor who brought Wilson Fisk, AKA the Kingpin, to life inMarvel’s Spider-Manhas expressed interest in playing the character again for the sequel,Spider-Man 2. Recent years have seen Fisk’s presence outside the comics grow quite a bit, such as being themain villain in the filmSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, appearing in theHawkeyeshow on Disney+, and, of course, being included in Insomniac’s 2018 open-world action game.

The Kingpin is one of the reasonsMarvel’s Spider-Manmade such a strong first impression with many players. The game’s action-packed opening sequence sees Peter Parker fighting his way through Fisk Tower and its security before finally throwing down with Fisk himself in an intense cinematic boss fight. Though the sequence ends with the crime boss being sent to jail, Fisk’s presence can still be felt throughout the rest of the game andin the spinoffSpider-Man: Miles Morales, and fans are hoping this could set the stage for him to have a larger role in next year’s sequel.

Among them is Kingpin’s voice and motion capture actor, Travis Willingham. Speaking with Comic Book Movie, Willingham was asked about playing Fisk in Insomniac’s games, and he said he’s a “great, great character” and that it was a “joy” taking on the role of such an egotistical villain. When asked about whether he would want to do it again inSpider-Man 2, he said it would “be a joy to play him,” should the character show up.

That, naturally, raises the question of whether Fisk will be showing up again in the next game.Confirmed villains forSpider-Man 2include Venomand Kraven the Hunter, and that’s it as of this writing. That will likely change as the game gets closer to release, and chances are the final lineup of evil-doers from Spidey’s rogues gallery will include plenty of new and returning faces. It’s not outside the realm of possibility that Insomniac could make room for the Kingpin once more somewhere.

Insomniac has kept things close to the chest with its next Spider-game so far. Aside from the aforementioned villains, one of the only confirmed details is that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will appear. The developer has also stated that the game will be single-player only despite the inclusion of two Spider-Men, yet recent rumors havehinted at some form of multiplayer being added toSpider-Man 2, which suggests Insomniac might have a surprise in store for players hoping to web-sling and fight crime together.

For now, fans can at least take comfort in the fact that answers should be on the horizon soon enough. WithSpider-Man 2still on track for a 2023 launch, it shouldn’t be too long now before Insomniac starts opening up about how it will expand onMarvel’s Spider-ManandMiles Morales’ formula.
