Despite the return of fan-favorite characters, however, Reddit user Faaabs took to the officialMortal Kombatsubreddit to air out their complaints about the new looks for Cyrax and Sektor, who appear to be wearing robotic suits rather than being full-on cyborgs. While the characters are also notably gender-swapped from their original appearances, being female in the new pack, the main complaint stems from the opinion that the new looks are far less intimidating than before.

Mortal Kombat 1 Fans Aren’t Happy About Cyrax and Sektor

The user mentions that their designs, which show the historically robotic red and yellow fighters wearing armored suits, miss the point of their original concept, which was to be a pair of intimidating killer cyborgs. Fans in the comments largely agreed, comparing the designs tothe Marvel superhero Iron Manand lamenting the fact that the characters are no longer cyborgs, as they have been in every previousMortal Kombatappearance.

Cyrax and Sektor officially debuted inMortal Kombat 3,where they added a robotic spin to the franchise’s staple of multicolored ninjas with mystical abilities, and would go on to become recurring members of the series' roster. Though they appeared as a story boss inMortal Kombat 11,the last time they were fully playable was inMortal Kombat Xin 2015, making the new DLC their first full return to the franchise in nearly a decade.

Fans have not been as vocal aboutthe appearance of Noob Saibot, who also sports a new look featuring black and green robes and his usual ninja mask, giving him an appearance that is seemingly more in line with his original design. The Khaos Reigns pack forMortal Kombat 1releases on September 24 for the PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC.
