Smite 2’s reveal traileralso confirmed the platforms it would be launching on, which includes PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and even the Steam Deck.Smite 2also confirmed it would have cross-play functionality, though according to the developers, any cross progression is dependent on partner approval. In aninterview with TechRadar, Cantatore says that the team behindSmite 2was uncertain that the Nintendo Switch would have the necessary power to handle the game, stating that the console’s current hardware wouldn’t be able to deliver the intended experience they were aiming for. “We’re concerned that currently, with the power level of Switch and the minimum specs that we’re targeting,” says Cantatore. “We just aren’t sure that we’d be able to develop or deliver a really good experience to people playing on Switch currently.”

While theSmitesequel won’t be coming to the current iteration of the Nintendo Switch, Cantatore adds that the developers are “keeping an open mind” about bringingSmite 2to other platforms. He states thatif the Nintendo Switch got a more powerful successor, they would re-evaluateSmite 2’s chances of coming to such a console, though asserts he has no knowledge if such a system is in the works at Nintendo. “Smite’s been everywhere we can possibly get it to run well, and I would expect that to continue withSmite 2,” Cantatore adds. “We’re just not sure we’d be able to get it running well on Switch 1, unfortunately.”

Some developers and studios have also reportedly gotten their hands on development kits for the new system. However, the Switch successor is currently only a rumor, so any information about it should be taken with a grain of salt until Nintendo says otherwise.
