A game designer at the developer ofRust, Facepunch, has explained the new features that these modular cars will bring to the game. The development of four-wheeled vehicles appears to have been painstaking but it seems to have yielded positive results and game designer, Helk, explained, “We’ve found many players tend to opt for performance by putting on multiple engine modules, often resulting in flying off the roads. The most valuable information we’ve taken is that our beta players always find ways to break anything and everything they possibly can!” It seems that testing these vehicles has been fun for the team and it will be interesting to see how many different types of cars can be and how they will stack up against the existing horses, helicopters, and boats that are in the game.
Helk detailed a personal preference for armored vehicle configurations to deal with enemies with heavy artillery, and it seems that all kinds of players with unique styles can configure vehicles to their choosing. The designer also added that they expected the fan base of the game to experiment with mods to create completely new vehicle designs that the developer could not have imagined. These vehicles look set to give players more freedom ina game that encourages survivalby any means necessary.
This update may encourage players who have not playedRustto pick up the title and possibly have fans returning to the game. It is clear thatthe survival game is evolvingand it will be interesting to see if the player base of this game changes with its updates, as many will be intrigued by this new feature.
