Backlash was so strong, in fact, thatCreative Assembly apologized to the communityfor the missteps, vowing to improve future titles in theTotal Warfranchise going forward. As for what one of these upcomingTotal Wargames could be, it seems like fans may now have a clearer picture of what to expect.

According toa new report from DualShockers, Creative Assembly is allegedly developing “a total of three newTotal Wargames,” one of which is said to be “an officially licensedStar Warsgame.” It is claimed that this rumoredTotal War: Star Warsentry is the second of the three aforementioned titles currently in development, “as of October 2023.” However, DualShockers was unable to determine which of these upcoming games is closest to release. The wording here, though, does seem to suggest thatTotal War: Star Warscould be launched within the next few years.
A Total War Game Set in the Star Wars Universe Could Be a Refreshing Take on the RTS Franchise
Since the release ofTotal War: Attilain 2015, Creative Assembly’scelebrated action RTS franchisehas received a new installment almost every year, except for in 2021. Based off of the developer’s annual release cadence, it’s possible that these three upcoming titles will be released over the next three years, assuming that there’s anotherTotal Wargame set to launch in 2024. SinceTotal War:Star Warsis apparently the second of the three titles in development, then perhaps it could be released in 2025 if it’s been in the works for enough time.
The proposition of a crossover between these two beloved franchises will likely excite bothTotal Warfans andStarWarsenthusiasts alike. If this game truly is in development, then it might just be the ace up Creative Assembly’s sleeve that it may use to propel theTotal Warseries to new levels of popularity and success. Even if this rumoredTotal War: Star Warstitle doesn’t exist, fans will at least be pleased to know thatJedi: SurvivordeveloperRespawn Entertainment is making aStar Warsstrategy gameof its own. So, nonetheless, it seems like gamers will be getting aStar Wars-themed title in the strategy genre no matter what, whether it’s part of theTotal Warfranchise or not.
