Silent Hillis once again a topic of frequent discussion in the video game industry, despite no games being announced. Rumor and speculation have driven the fandom forSilent Hillinto a fervor, and Konami’s hints of an upcoming announcement haven’t helped the matter. Expect things to only get more unruly going forward, though, because a new leak appears to have revealed details about the oft-rumored Bloober TeamSilent Hill 2reboot project.

The leak, which has an unclear origin, features what appears to be a trio of three low-resolutionSilent Hill 2reboot screenshots. The screenshots all feature a third-person view of protagonist James Sunderland. In the first, he’s standing in a room looking toward a messy desk and window. In the second, he’s in a dark hallway lined with windows that provide a golden ambiance. The third screenshot shows afamiliarSilent Hill 2foe, as a nurse walks out from around a corner.

According to industry insiders, these are unfortunately not screenshots from an actively-in-development project. Rather, they’re demo screenshots created for what’s described as an internal pitch from Bloober Team. They’re a proof of concept showing what a potentialBloober TeamSilent Hill 2rebootmight look like in motion. That project has been reported to now be in development, of course, though it has not been officially confirmed or announced.

Even as a proof of concept, the low-resolution images provide a very healthy idea of what a modernSilent Hill 2would look like. The visual quality is incomparable to the original project, which is understandable considering it was made for thePlayStation 2generation of consoles. These screenshots specifically seem focused on showcasing lighting technology in the reboot. Ambient lighting from windows, the player’s flashlight, and shadowing all stand out.

Some would prefer it not be remade, and others yet have a very specific idea of what it should look like.
