It seems that every day there’s a new rumor about the next game fromGrand Theft AutostudioRockstar Games. Sometimes the rumors claim that Rockstar’s next game isGrand Theft Auto 6, and other times they swear it’sBully 2. Rarely do the rumors point to a new IP, but that’s exactly the case with a new rumor making the rounds online, claiming that Rockstar’s next game will have a medieval setting.
This rumor stems from a random Reddit user by the name iknowstuff312. They claim to have a source that gave them accurate information aboutnew Grand Theft Auto Online contentandRed Dead Redemption 2story details, though they provide no evidence to back up their claims. According to their “source,” Rockstar’s medieval game is aiming for release in Q1 of 2021, with an open world and a focus on sword-fighting. The official announcement of this supposed game “isn’t that long away,” according the poster.

It should go without saying, but fans should take this claim with a massive grain of salt. Even so, there is something else that has come to light that makes this rumor a bit more compelling than it would be otherwise.
Another Reddit user found the profile of someone who apparently worked for Rockstar Games on a “TBA IP” that included “Creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architecture style.” This profile is suspect as it misspells “medivial,” and could easily be faked, or otherwise be about a game that has nothing to do withRockstar’s next project. Either way, it makes the latest claim about Rockstar’s next game a little more interesting at least.
We know that Rockstar Games is hard at work on its next game, and there’s even been some claims thatRockstar has multiple games in development. WithRed Dead Redemption 2’s launch taking place over a year ago, an announcement for Rockstar’s next title could come sooner rather than later. Until then, fans can expect more rumors and speculation to dominate discussion, though none of it should be taken too seriously.
A medieval Rockstar game could be an interesting change of pace for the studio, though some would no doubt prefer to see it makeBully 2orGrand Theft Auto 6instead. Whatever the case may be, fans will just have to stay tuned to learn more.
