Epic Games releasedFortniteback in 2017 and since then, the popular battle royale has evolved in many ways.Fortnitereceived a change to the building mechanic as part of patch 3.0, making it more central to the battle royale, but lots of players have been clambering for a build-free mode which may be coming to the game in the near future.
It wasn’t uncommon to get in build fights inFortnite’s early days, but once Turbo Building was added to the game with its third major update, it became a far more regular occurrence from one match to another. SomeFortniteplayers contemplated a version of the game without building since its very inception, but it seems the increase in fans requesting it is impactingFortnite’s development. According to knownFortniteleaker Hypex, Epic Games is working on a “No Build” limited-time mode that gamers will be able to play soon.

The No BuildFortniteLTM has been teased for months as dataminers have been aware of some code suggesting its addition to the battle royale. AsFortnitefans may anticipate, this mode is a standard battle royale match that features the same weapons and items as a regularFortnitematch without the building mechanic. Epic Games recently brought sliding toFortniteand the addition ofSpider-Man with Chapter 3 Season 1included a Web Shooter Mythic item that also improves mobility around the battle royale island, making now a more welcome time for a build-free mode.
Since the release ofTurbo Building inFortnite, some fans have struggled to keep up with professional builders who create towers, tunnels, and fortresses as they defeat enemies across the regularly changing map. The upcoming No Build LTM may giveFortniteplayers who don’t engage the building mechanic much a new view of the battle royale, and it may bring back some lapsed fans who were frustrated by the building.
Although building inFortnitehas been integral to navigating the battle royale map during seasons such asFortniteChapter 2 Season 4and the final Season of Chapter 2, Chapter 3 Season 1 prominently features areas that can be accessed without having to build ramps as well. This change may make the battle royale island feel larger as it becomes more difficult to traverse without being able to find Web Shooters, Launch Pads, etc. Since it remains unreleased, Epic Games may also add more mobility items toFortnitebetween now and the new No Build mode.
Hypex has officially teased a No Builds Duos game mode, so it’s likely that Squads will also receive this LTM, and Solo may also get the same treatment. It’s currently unclear whenFortnitewill be getting the No Builds LTM, but because it’s been teased by multiple dataminers, it seems to be progressing well. Just like its Item Shop,Fortnitehas an ever-expanding list ofFortniteLTMs and modes such as Impostorsinitially started as a limited-time mode before becoming a regular part of the battle royale rotation.
Fortniteis available right now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
