Assassin’s Creed Hexe Gameplay: Cats, Fear System, and More

Insider Gaming previously reported thatAssassin’s Creed Hexewould feature a single female protagonistnamed Elsa, who wields some form of supernatural or magical abilities. Given the purported setting, this is not a surprise. It is also said to be a more linear game than recent titles, though it will feature some key elements of open-world titles. Now,Insider Gaming reportsthat it has seen footage of Elsa using a spell to possess a cat. In this form, Elsa reportedly distracts some German soldiers to divert their attention, presumably to escape. Insider Gaming describes the setting as “dark and gloomy,” and this footage takes place in the “cobbled streets” of a city.

What’s more, Insider Gaming reports thatAssassin’s Creed Hexewill feature a fear system similar toAC Syndicate’s Jack The Ripper DLC—or that, at least, the current plan is to do so. IfAssassin’s Creed Hexedoes indeed take place during a Witch Hunt, it would make a lot of sense and play well into the game’s overarching theme. It could perhaps even expand on the NPC interactions seen inAssassin’s Creed Mirage,as it doesn’t sound like they’ll necessarily be neutral to Elsa.

Until Ubisoft confirms such details aboutAssassin’s Creed Hexe, however, it’s best that fans take this information with a grain of salt. The fear system is described as a plan, for one, and there’s plenty of time for things to change, for two.Assassin’s Creed Hexehas given off spooky, horror game vibessince its initial reveal, though, and if Ubisoft manages to follow through, the future of the franchise is exciting. Indeed, it seems a given that the time period, setting, and key events should dictate the gameplay style and features instead of developers attempting to fit everything into an open-world mold.
