Psyonix' free-to-playRocket Leaguereleased atrailer for its Season 2 Rocket Passearlier this month, promising music-themed content as well as unlockables such as new cars and decals. The season began on December 9, but that’s not all the developer has planned for players through the holiday season.Rocket League’s Frosty Fest 2020 is on its way, and should offer a lot to keep fans occupied.
This year’s seasonal event will begin tomorrow, December 14, at 9:00 a.m. PT, according to an announcement posted by Psyonix Thursday. Three limited-time modes (LTMs) will be available across different periods of time to celebrateRocket League’s fourth Frosty Fest, beginning with a new mode called Winter Breakaway that has players take to a frozen-over Throwback Stadium resembling a hockey rink. This LTM will last from December 14 to December 21.

After Winter Breakaway, the Spike Rush mode will return on Throwback Stadium starting December 21, and then a2v2 Heatseeker modewill be available on other snowy arenas starting December 28. Frosty Fest 2020 will end on January 4, and players who complete special challenges can unlock seasonal items including a Holiday Bow Topper for one’s car and a new animated lights decal.
Every player will also have access to a free snowman Antenna called Mr. Floeberg in theRocket Leagueshop for the duration of the event, while Psyonix promises there will be “additional festive items in the Item Shop” to watch out for. This will be the last in-game event for 2020, and seems to be one that offers fans a good amount of things to wrap up a year that has been largely positive for the game, seeingRocket Leaguereach one million concurrent playersand other accolades after it became free-to-play.
Rocket Leagueis not the only game celebrating the holiday season with additional content for players to take in. Respawn Entertainment’s battle royaleApex Legendsbrought its Winter Express LTMback as part of its 2020 Holo-Day Bash, and winter-themed apparel will be made available in various ongoing titles includingFortniteandPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
End-of-year festivities are not the only reason why players may want to jump back intoRocket Leaguein the foreseeable future. As part of its Season 2 launch, Psyonix announced it was finally fixing aRocket Leaguesplit-screen bug on Nintendo Switch, giving fans another reason to jump on with those they may be seeing for the holidays.
Rocket Leagueis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
