At this morning’sPlayStation State of Play, Capcom officially confirmed that a remake ofResident Evil 3is on the way. This confirmation came via a briefResident Evil 3trailer, which revealed the game’s release date, showed off the new character designs, and more. Despite all that was included in theRE3trailer, though, actual gameplay footage was notably absent, but a special message from the developer offers a look at the remake in motion for fans that are interested.
ThisResident Evil 3developer video begins with introductions from producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata, and it does not take long before gameplay footage is shown. Specifically, a shot ofRE3’s protagonist, Jill Valentine, firing on a horde of zombies can be seen at around 25 seconds into the clip, and many players will be happy to see that the game features the same over-the-shoulder camera as the acclaimedResident Evil 2remake from earlier this year.

Fabiano and Kawata acknowledge this third-person camera directly at around the 1:30 mark, and there is additionalResident Evil 3gameplay to be seen here as well. Unfortunately, there is no footage of Valentine going up againstRE3’s Nemesis in the video, but more of the frightening villain is certain to be shared before the game’s release date arrives.
As to when that release date will come, theResident Evil 3remake is set to launch on August 07, 2025, and the close proximity of that date is certain to have many players very excited. Furthermore, it is now known thatRE3will contain themultiplayerResident Evil: Resistance, which Capcom revealed several months ago. Indeed, many fans have been under the impression thatResistancewas to be an independent title, and it is interesting to learn that it is, in fact, simplyResident Evil 3’s multiplayer offering.
While theResident Evil 3remake gameplay shown in the video featured here is brief, it will undoubtedly be sufficient for convincing a great number of players to pick up the title. For those fans that are especially excited about the game, theResident Evil 3remake Collector’s Editionmay be of particular interest, and it contains a map, a Jill Valentine figure, and more. However, for those that may still be on the fence aboutRE3, there is still plenty of time for more gameplay footage to be released and win them over.
Resident Evil 3launches on July 21, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
