Updated by on April 8th, 2022 by Russ Boswell:Pokemon Sword & Shield continues to be relevant for some players even though many have already switched to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl or Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Still, there are those that are just now making their way through Pokemon Sword & Shield as well as its additional content unveiled in DLCs. Crowned Tundra brought the addition of Dynamax Adventures to the iconic game, allowing players to catch tons of Pokemon from the National Dex. This includes tons of Legendaries. To better expand on the Pokemon available and their appropriate stats, here’s an updated look at all theLegendary Pokemon that can be caught in Dynamax Adventures in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Dynamax Adventures in Sword and Shield
Dynamax Adventures are an underground challenge where trainers get to fight through 4 Max Raid Battles with the last battle against a Legendary Pokemon. Fortunately, trainers still have a 100-percent catch rate after weakening these Pokemon enough. In total, there are 38 legendary Pokemon from the previous 7 generations that trainers can encounter after the main story.

Moltres
Mewtwo
*Trainers should be aware that these are the original forms of the Legendary Birds instead of their Galarian versions.
All Sword and Shield Johto Legendaries
Only 4 legendary Pokemon from Johto are available depending on the version.
Ho-Oh (Swordonly)
All Sword and Shield Hoenn Legendaries
TheRegis have their own Crown Tundra storyline, but the Weather Trio and Eon duo Pokemon are split between both games.
Latias (Shieldonly)
All Sword and Shield Sinnoh Legendaries
With the exception of Dialga and Palkia, Generation 4’s extensive list of Legendary Pokemon is available to all trainers.
Cresselia
All Sword and Shield Unova Legendaries
While theSwords of Justiceare wandering throughout Crown Tundra, the Tao trio and Forces of Nature have been heavily separated between both versions.
Thundurus (Shieldonly)
All Sword and Shield Kalos Legendaries
Because Kalos had very few Legendaries, trainers will only be able to get 2 members of the Aura trio.
Zygarde
All Sword and Shield Alola Legendaries
Trainers can catch all of Alola’s Guardian dieties, Necrozma, and either one ofSunandMoon’smascots. Note that the Ultrabeasts can also make an appearance in Dynamax Adventures along with the other 38 Legendaries.
Tapu Lele
All Pokemon Sword and Shield Dynamax Adventure Ultra Beasts
Although technically not Legendary, the Ultra Beasts are still worth mentioning.
Stakataka
Blacephalon
Although some trainers will definitely be disappointed that these Legendary Pokemon don’t have their own unique scenarios, Game Freak was still able to add every Legendary to Crown Tundra using this method without having to further delay the DLC. Furthermore, their implementation this way is healthier for trainers who just want to catch them all or take advantage of theincreased shiny rate. In the end, getting Legendary Pokemon through Dynamax Adventures might not be perfect, but there are positives to this system that are sure to return in futurePokemongames.
Dynamax Adventures: Catching Legendaries Tips
Dynamax Adventures has a mixed reputation among the fanbase.
On one hand, players that prefer online gaming can now playSwordandShieldwith their friends. It’s also easier to communicate with a group of people that are familiar instead of being put into a random group. Dynamax Adventures are difficult, but they’re still possible to beat if playing alone.
On the other hand, those thatdoprefer playing offline are stuck with NPCs that make questionable decisions. Since Max Raid Battles are “timed,” wasting a turn can make or break the battle.Strong Pokemon like Mewtwocan easily sweep the entire team if it has the right moves, which will cause the vortex over the Dynamax Den to end the battle.

Don’t forget to speak to Peonia outside the Den. She’ll sometimes report seeing a Legendary Pokemon down in the tunnels and will give the location to trainersfor the cost of 5 Dynite Ore. Her reports are randomized, so players are not guaranteed to find the Pokemon they want. However, once a route has been registered, players will have the option of exploring that route or starting from scratch.
Pokemon SwordandShieldare available on the Nintendo Switch.
