Psychic-typePokemon have always been the most mysterious of the franchise. This is reflected in how some of them evolve, with Alakazam’s requirement to be traded to another trainer, and Espeon’s need for friendship during the daytime, being just two examples.

WhilePokemon Scarlet & Violetonly inject a few new Psychic-types into the game, those that have been included in the lineup bring their own special traits to the games. Psychic types hold a vital role in a Trainer’s party, as they are one of the most resilient types when it comes to weakness matchups, with abilities like Levitate and Regenerator only adding to their defenses.

7North Province (Area One)

The rocky and mountain areas in North Province (Area One) have several diverse Psychic-type Pokemon behind every boulder, including Meditite, Flittle, Indeedee, Espathra, Spoink, Grumpig, and Gallade, which is one of the few locations this Psychic/Fighting type.

One of the debutingPokemon inScarlet & Violetis Charcadet, which has a very low spawn rate. While it is a Fire-type in its basic form, this Pokemon can eitherevolve into Armarouge or Ceruledge, depending on the item used. To evolve into the Fire/Psychic Armarouge, the Trainer will have to head to Zapapico and find an NPC in a pink shirt. This NPC will ask the player to bring him 10 Bronzor fragments by catching or defeating bronzor, which will be traded for the Auspicious Armor item. Armarouge has some impressive Defense and Special Attack stats, as well an exclusive move called Armor Cannon, that deals damage and reduces the defense of the opponent.

6South Province (Area Four) - Mountain

South Province (Area Four) is home to thedebuting Pokemon, Espathra. This mono Psychic-type is not only one of the best available inScarlet & Violetbutcan be caught incredibly earlyinto your adventure. This makes it a fantastic ally, no matter which Treasure Hunt path you take first.

Grumpig, Espathra and  Medicham as seen in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Also found in the mountains is Meditite, which can evolve into Medicham at level 37, as well as Indeedee, Spoink, Grumpig, and Charcadet. Psychic-type fans will not regret spending a little time searching this area before heading out to pursue their next objective.

5Casseroya Lake

Several Psychic Pokemon have made Casseroya Lake their home, which is the largest body of water on the land of Paldea. Here, Trainers will be able to get theirhands on some Water/Psychic types, such as Slowpoke, Slowbro, and Veluza. By using King’s Rock on Slowpoke and evolving it into a Slowking, players will get access to several useful psychic and Water-type moves such as Heal Pulse and Surf.

Another Psychic Pokemon seen wandering the forest area of Casseroya Lake is Oranguru, who debuted inPokemon Sun & Moon. Oranguru can provide your team with some much-needed defense. This Pokemon can learn moves that offer unique ways of attacking, such as Trick Room, which lets slower Pokemon hit first, and Future Sight, which hits two turns after the move was chosen. At Casseroya Lake, Trainers can also run into a Tsareena with the Psychic Tera-type, which is usually a Grass type.

4Asado Desert

Rabsca is an incredibly rare Psychic Pokemon that only appears in two areas of Paldea, West Province (Area Two) and the Asado Desert. Those who don’t like the 1% odds of running into Rabsca in the wild can choose to capture a Rellor, also found in the Asado Desert, and evolve itby taking 1000 stepswith the Let’s Go feature.

After completing the main objectives of the game, those playingScarletcan run into the Ancient Paradox Pokemon, including the not-so-adorable ancestor of Jigglypuff, known as Scream Tail. This Psychic/Fairy type excels in HP, Defense, and Speed stats and can learn the powerful Boomburst move at level 91.

3East Province (Area Two)

The grassy area in East Province (Area Two) is a fantastic location to pick up some new psychic types for your team. Girafarig has a brand new evolutionary stage inPokemon Scarlet & Violet,in the form of Farigiraf. While there is a chance of running into Farigiraf in the wild, you can evolve a Girafarig by raising it to level 32, but it must know the Twin Beam move to do so.

While Indeedee and Medicham show up all over Paldea, East Province (Area Two) seems to be a prime location for these little Psychic Pokemon. There is also a slight chance of running into a fully evolved Espeon, ready to hop straight into your party.

2South Province (Area 4)

While the forest area of South Province (Area 4) offers up some great psychic-type Pokemon, including Girafarig, Oranguru, and Charcadet, in the most western part of the area, a wild psychic Tera-type Pokemon is waiting to be caught.

Farigiraf seen in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

It may surprise many that Golduck was never a psychic type, considering its appearance and its ability to learn psychic-type moves. InScarlet & Violet, Trainers will be able to catch a psychic Tera-type Golduck, which will power up moves like Zen Headbutt or Psyshock if learned by the TM. You can find this wild Tera type in the west of the area, beside the large plateau of South Province (Area Six).

1East Province (Area Three)

Throughout the grass, lakes, ocean, andmountain areas of East Province, Trainers will come across a plethora of Psychic-types, such as Ralts, Spoink, Grumpig, Meditite, Medicham, Charcadet, Indeedee, Farigiraf, Slowpoke, Slowbro, Hattrem, Veluza, Bruxish, Gothita, and Gothorita.

Tera-type Eevee evolutions are spread all around Paldea inPokemon Scarlet & Violet, including Espeon. You will find this Pokemon In the northernmost point of the area, within a cave. Inside, Trainers will be able to battle and catch the Psychic Tera-type Espeon, which will power up its Psychic-type moves.
