In a recent trailer posted by Nintendo of America, more footage was shown ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetbox art legendaries in action. In the upcoming games, trainers will be able to use the legendary Pokemon of their respective game versions to travel the open world map of the Paldea region by land, water, and eventually the skies. The 30-second trailer comes with just over two weeks to go until the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
ThePaldea region, which draws inspiration from Spain, is more of a spread-out setting compared to its predecessor, the Galar region ofPokemon Sword and Shield. According to previous trailers, prospective trainers will begin their journey in the southern parts of the region and go from there as they explore the region, solve mysteries, and grow their roster of Pokemon.

On October 28, Nintendo andPokemonreleased a brief trailer that showed trainers going around the world map on the back of Koraidon inPokemon Scarlet, or Miraidon inPokemon Violetrespectively. Both of these Pokemon are exclusive to their respective versions, and each one is capable of taking their trainer across Paldea. In the trailer, when each Pokemon takes to the skies, Koraidon is shown growing out its neck fins to take the shape of a prehistoric glider. By contrast, Miraidon turns its legs into jet engines and flies in a futuristic manner. Additionally, Koraidon’s land animation is reminiscent of themodern Stone Age family car fromThe Flintstones.
In past trailers shown byPokemonon social media, the Pokemon called Cyclizar was shown as the mount of choice for new trailers to ride on. Cyclizar is capable of traveling across the lands and waters of the Paldea region, but not the skies. However, the reason for that being the case has been touched upon in sometheories about the Legendary Pokemon of Paldea and Alola. InPokemon Sun and Moon, both Solgaleo and Lunala were not featured until late in the game. Eventually, a Pokemon called Cosmog evolved into Cosmoem and later into Solgaleo inPokemon Sun, or Lunala inPokemon Moonbefore trainers could battle and capture them. Whether such will be the case with Cyclizar, Koraidon, and Miraidon will be up to trainers to discover.
That’s not all trainers will have to look forward to, as the games will feature new Pokemon to capture, and multiple paths to take during the story. From taking on the various Gyms, to facing the troublesome Team Star in their own bases, and figuring out howthe new Tera-type moves of Pokemonwill work, the choice of which path to start with is a major selling point for the ninth generation ofPokemongames. Which choices trainers will make to start, only time will tell.
