Updated on July 04, 2025 by Renri Seong:Obtaining and hatching Eggs inPokemon GOworks differently from mainlinePokemongames, such asScarlet & Violet. Whenever new Pokemon cross over intoGO, it’s guaranteed that at least one of them will be added to the existing Hatchable Pokemon. Events can potentially switch up Pokemon in the Egg Pool, so you should always keep an eye out for in-game announcements. Bear in mind that with each new event, the Egg Pool is likely to change - especially for 7km Eggs. The following guide has been updated to include new Hatchable Pokemon and their respective Egg Category.

Types of Pokemon Eggs

There are six different Eggs inPokemon GO:

ThePokemon GOEggs are classified by how many km it takes to hatch. 2km Eggs are the most common type of Eggs with 12km Eggs being the rarest. Each category of Eggs hatches different types of Pokemon. Unfortunately, if you’re looking to hatch a specific species, the Hatchable Pokemon are randomly generated.

you may only havea total of 12 Eggs. 2km, 5km, 7km, and 10km Eggs are stored together (9 slots), while 12km Eggs are placed in the Bonus Storage (3 slots). Here’s how to get each type:

Hatching Experience and More

EachPokemon GOplayer will haveone Egg Incubatorthat has an unlimited number of uses. Other Egg Incubators such as the blue ones will have to be bought from the in-game Shop using PokeCoins.Blue Egg Incubatorscan be usedthree timesbefore they break. ASuper Incubatorwill lessen the amount of time an Egg needs to hatch. For example, a 12km Egg requires 8km instead of 12km to hatch. Like the regular Egg Incubator, the Super Incubator willbreak after three uses. An Egg Incubator costs 150 PokeCoins while the Super Incubator costs 200 PokeCoins. Sometimes, Egg Incubators may beincluded in the Limited Time Onlyboxes at the Shop.

The km when hatching an Egg will only count if you’re walking. Distance is not tracked/calculated if you are traveling by vehicle.
