InPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl, players will travel all over Sinnoh battling trainers, catching Pokemon, challenging Pokemon Gyms, and collecting TMs and HMs. For example, the HM Surf, which is used to travel across bodies of water, will be given to the player when they reach Celestic Town.
The path to Celestic Town will be visible before players even have the fourth Gym Badge. However, it’s locked behind a story-based event. To get to Celestic Town inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, trainers have some tasks to complete first.

Updated January 25th, 2022 by Russ Boswell: Pokemon Legends: Arceus is right around the corner but there are still many players out there that are just now making their way through Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Those that are still attempting to conquer the Sinnoh region will have to travel through a series of towns. One of these locations, Celestic Town, is a bit harder to find than others. To better help players onhow to get to Celestic Town, the following guide has been updated and now includes even more information about what players can find once they make it toCelestic Town.

What To Do First Before Entering Celestic Town
Here are the things trainers will need:
After arriving inSolaceon Town, players can go north ontoRoute 210. If they continue going straight, they’ll see a house with a pink roof and a pack of Psyduck huddling between some trees. These Pokemon are conveniently blocking the rest of Route 210, which players will need to traverse to get toCelestic Town. Unfortunately,Psyduck are known for having severe headaches, and they won’t budge unless they’re given theSecret Medicine.
To get the Secret Medicine, players need to go toPastoria City. Here, they will battle Crasher Wake and get the Fen Badge, which allows players touse HM Defog outside of battle. As for HM Defog, trainers can get this by going into the Safari Zone and speaking to a green-haired NPC near the entrance.

After having both the badge and HM Defog in hand, the players can speak to aTeam Galactic Gruntstanding outside the Safari Zone. Battle him, then chase him to the Valor Lakefront. Here, players will run into Cynthia, and she will give them theSecret Medicineto use on the Psyduck.UseHM Flyto Solaceon Townand head up Route 210 to give the Psyduck their medicine. Now, players will be able to explore the rest of Route 210.

Route 210
The first thing trainers will notice about the northern part of Route 210 is that it is very foggy. It’s possible to navigate through Route 210 without using HM Defog, but then players will have a hard time avoiding trainers. So, use HM Defog, and go north through thetall grass. This grass is different from regular grass becauseplayers should not be able to ride their bike through it.
Continue straight and there should be some trees and ledges.Look for the grass by the ledge with the HM Cut Tree.Go left past this tree, and defeat the Ace Trainer standing in the way. Then, go up the stairs towards the mountain area.
There is an Ace Trainer Double Team waiting on the first platform, so either fight them or go around. Take the next set of stairs up to find the third Ace Trainer.
Go across the bridge and then down another bridge andthere will be a Black Belt Trainer. Fight him and thentake the stairs behind himto go deeper into the mountains. BattleanotherAce Trainer standing in the way,go across the bridge, and there will be a Veteran Trainer waiting at the end. Defeat him,go up the stairs to the leftand keep going to reachCelestic Town. Once players have set foot into Celestic Town, the fog will lift from Route 210.
Points Of Interest In Celestic Town
Celestic Town is definitely one of the smallest locations that players will encounter in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. The main story will have trainers traveling here to meet Cynthia’s grandmother, but there are actually a few useful things that players can pick up here. The following are some of the most useful points of interest within the town of Celestic.
Gaining Surf
This is one of the pre-requisites to progress the main story and the sole reason that players need to travel to Celestic Town in the first place. Cynthia’s grandmother will reward the player with Surf, but only after they’ve dealt with the ongoing threat in town. To snag Surf, players should head to the center of town and look for a Team Galactic Grunt standing in front of a cave. Talking to this Grunt will trigger a battle, leading to a meeting with Cynthia’s grandmother and the reward.
Wise Glasses, Choice Specs, and Black Glasses
Celestic Town doesn’t have a traditional shop like the other cities and towns in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Instead, players can access a pseudo-shop inside the home in the northwestern-most (upper left) part of town.
What’s interesting is that the “shopkeep” inside sells different battle items depending on the time of day, and players can actually obtain three separate items from them:
Analog Clock
This is a bit of a strange one, as many players will already have a Digital Clock available on their Poketch device, but it’s interesting to have nonetheless. To get access to the Analog Clock, players will need to speak to the resident located in the home in the southwestern-most (bottom left) part of town. There are no special requirements to get this “app,” players will simply receive it by talking to the NPC.
The Analog Clock operates identically to the Digital Clock but features a traditional “clock with hands” style, rather than digitalized numbers. Those that want to “feel like they’re wearing a more traditional watch” may appreciate this app more than the digital variant.
