Generation 4Pokemongames are among the most beloved in the series, andPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlperfectly portray the Sinnoh region and the narrative of the original titles. Because the remakes were always meant to be faithful toPokemon DiamondandPearl, it doesn’t come as a surprise that players can experience some things in a way that’s almost identical to the 2006 games.
Even some issues are similar, considering that somePokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlare encountering invisible NPCs, like Riley, who happened to rarely be invisible in the original games as well. Other examples include the elusive Feebas and how it can be caught, and the fact that players can once again try andcatch Pokemon from Honey Trees, both of which are directly taken from the originalPokemon DiamondandPearl.

Speaking of Pokemon encounters from Honey Trees, a player shared a post on Reddit under the name of PaNlC, showing their attempt at catching a Combee to make it evolve intoVespiquen. However, Combee can come either as a male or a female, and only female specimens do evolve into Vespiquen at some point, which makes it a good idea to look for females exclusively. That’s when PaNlC’s luck kicked in, making them find a Shiny Combee just when they needed one, but the tragic part of it is that the cute honeybee Pokemon is instead a male.
Thus, a very lucky find was immediately acknowledged by thePokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlplayer as a bit of an unfortunate twist of fate, considering the ShinyCombee cannot evolvenow. Still, Shiny Pokemon are always valuable to collectors, and a male Shiny Combee could be more valuable to those who want to collect both versions of the same critter, as female and male specimens have different traits.
Combee’s gender differences were the same in the original Generation 4, meaning that it’s not impossible that other players ran into the same issue with their Shiny Combee. Still,Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlplayers are unhappy with the affection rateand how impactful it can be in battle, which is oddly enough something that was added to the remakes and wasn’t there inPokemon DiamondandPearl.
