The true final boss ofPersona 4 Goldenis Izanami, a figure in Japanese mythology that is referenced earlier in the game. Though the game is technically presented as a kind of murder mystery, the real stakes in the game are much greater than a single city in rural Japan.

Beating Izanami is the final challenge in the game before reaching the game’s true ending and the new Golden ending that wasn’t available in the game’s original release. That’s easier said than done, though, as Izanami proves to be quite the challenge.
How to Beat Izanami
Izanami, who was disguised as theshady gas station attendantat the start of the game, isn’t a particularly steep challenge for players, especially as their characters are likely approaching level 100 by this point. The boss is immune to light and dark spells but has neutral resistance to everything else.
The boss has access to Mabufudyne, Maragidyne, Maziodyne, Magarudyne, and Megidolaon. It can also empower these spells with Mind Charge to boost its power further. Players can whittle down Izanami’s health but should make sure to conserve SP where possible, as this is the first half of a two-stage fight.
After dealing enough damage to Izanami, the boss will become immune to all damage. From there, players just need to guard for a few turns to have the battle advance forward.
How to Beat Izanami-no-Okami
Players need to make sure to keep their party healed throughout the course of this fight as Izanami-no-Okami has access to the same spells as Izanami, but with a variety of debuffs, a new draining immunity to Zio skills, and the ability to perform two actions per turn. This means that if players slack on healing their team, Izanami-no-Okami can take advantage and score kills.
Because this is the final battle, players can feel free to use any item they’ve picked up along the way. Make sure to continuously keep party members at high health and replenish SP with items if needed. The player has won the battle once Izanami-no-Okami starts using the Thousand Curses ability. This kicks off a cutscene that leads to the ending.
