A player-recorded clip captured an unfortunateOverwatch 2glitch showing what happens to Kiriko if she jumps to a teammate while they’re swapping characters. Most Kiriko players are very familiar with having to panic Swift Step to a teammate. It’s the last resort of a Kiriko with no other options left. Doing a blind Swift Step doesn’t always put the Kiriko in a safer position, however, as thisOverwatch 2player discovered.
Swift Step is a fun and powerful ability for Kiriko. It allows the player to teleport to an ally, even through walls. Kiriko is able to see all of her teammates' outlines and by targeting one, she can cast Swift Step to teleport to them instantly. The quickness of the ability is what makes it such asaving grace for Kirikoand her teammates, but used without caution it proves the saying “Out of the frying pan into the fire” accurate.

In a clip shared by Yocas on theOverwatchsubreddit, a unique and incredibly rare glitch was captured. Yocast is healing theirWrecking Ball tankas Kiriko when they’re suddenly accosted by an enemy Genji. Having already been dropped to under 50% health, Yocast quickly targets an ally Torbjorn and casts Swift Step. Instead of teleporting to their ally, however, the Kiriko finds themselves teleported beyond the edge of the map where they fall to their death.
WatchfulOverwatch 2players can see what happened to the poor Kiriko. The ally Torbjorn just happens to be in theJunkertown map’s spawn room. At an exact moment, both Kiriko teleports to the Torbjorn and the Torbjorn player swaps their character to Tracer. The Swift Step confirmed Torbjorn as a target before they swapped, but wasn’t able to confirm their location and apparently decided over the edge of a cliff was the best option.
In explanation, another Redditor made a guess what happened in the post’s comments. They say that the location Kiriko ended up teleporting to is the “0,0,0” coordinates for the Junkertown map. In other words, since the Swift Step didn’t know what coordinates the Torbjorn was located at, it defaulted to “0,0,0.” It just happened that the location was a very bad place to teleport to.
This is unlikely to be a glitch that happens often enough for Blizzard to take it very seriously, as hilarious as it is in the clip. A straightforward fix might be to confirm the target’s coordinates before the teleportation is allowed to happen, rather than vice versa. But it happens so rarely,Overwatch 2playersmay never know if it gets fixed or not.
