Debriefing

After the battle against Riku Aganeia, Pandora’s Actor and Albedo share their findings with Ainz, who praises Pandora for his actions on the battlefield. Pandora’s begging on his knees in front of a hostile has created the grounds for the proliferation of false information about Ainz Ooal Gown, which is advantageous for the Sorcerer Kingdom. Despite having collected some information on Riku, there are still various things about him that are a big unknown, and Ainz also has no idea how his powers work.

They do, at the very least, deduce that Riku’s shields are the creation of a World Item of some kind, due to the fact that the wielder of the Ginnungagagap, Albedo, was able to break through Riku’s shields without much of an issue. Due to the large number of unknowns concerning Riku’s abilities, Ainz considers that heshould probably stage another “loss"to see the extent of his power and abilities. Pandora’s Actor reveals that Riku’s abilities all took a portion of his HP whenever he used them, which is interesting information because it is something that Ainz has never encountered before.

She then meets with the adventurers of the Blue Rose, where she and their leader Lakyus attempt to have a meeting. Evileye and the other Blue Rose members appear to be trying to buy more time when they are overly insistent on Lakyus and Renner having their tea and an unrushed conversation; however, it turns out that they had some ulterior motives. When Lakyus takes her first sip, the poison takes effect and the other members quickly descend upon her with various attacks, before Evileye casts Charm Person on a weakened, confused and beaten Lakyus. After ordering the hypnotized Lakyus to heal her own wounds, Evileye and her friends explain that Lakyus had been steadfast in her desire to protect the capital. She would have opted to stay behindeven if she were left alone, so her underlings took it upon themselves to use dramatic means to keep their friend from fighting a losing battle. They set sights on heading somewhere far southeast, offering Renner a way out of the Kingdom; however, she opts to stay, and so does her bodyguard, Brain Unglaus.

“Seek Life While Facing Death”

Brain tells Climb and Princess Renner that he was blessed to have met them, before setting off on what he is well aware will be his final duty: he will challenge the Sorcerer King. Brain gives the Razor Edge sword to Climb, telling him to return it to King Ramposa III, but Climb convinced by Renner that she will keep it in her care.Renner’s uncanny ability to wield and swingthe magic sword takes Climb by surprise, but because he is fond of the Princess, he thinks nothing of her desire to take the sword and return it to the king herself. The invasion of the capital continues, with Aura and Cocytus leading two different forces towards the centre. Brain walks through the city, seeing the scores of people who were not able to escape shutting themselves off in their homes.

He is unfortuanate enough to run into Cocytus and his legion ofYuki Onna(Ice Women), who freeze everything in their path. Once face-to-face with Brain, Cocytus gestures to his minions to stay out of the battle, honouring Brain’s warrior spirit. Brain expresses gratitude for Cocytus’s acknowledgment of his bravery in coming alone, but the Floor Guardian tells him it is unnecessary. The fight is the highlight of this episode, as flashes of the animation that studio Madhouse is famous for, make their way into this quick one-hit K.O. of a fight.

Cocytus vs Brain – Overlord IV Episode 12

Game Recognize Game

Cocytus plants his staff, and reaches into his pocket dimension to draw his weapon of choice; again, responding to his opponent and being uncharacteristically respectful towards the human. He draws the God Slaying Emperor Blade, a stunning white katana to, in some way, level the playing field and meet a katana-wielder on common ground. The bout is short as it all happens in the space of a single sword draw; however, in that one swipe, Cocytus developed a high level of respect for Brain, claiming that he never heard of someone of this caliber being on the enemy’s side.

Cocytus even adds thathe could have been an asset to Nazarick, but he could not disrespect the resolve of a fellow warrior, one who was fully prepared to die in the line of duty. He takes Brain’s sword and places it among his other spoils of war before telling his minions to preserve the warrior’s body in ice. The valiant Brain Unglaus dies with a smile on his face, as the certain collapse of the Kingdom of Re-Estize continues.
