Moon Knightpremiered two weeks ago on Disney Plus, already securing the second-best premiere from an MCU exclusive on the platform, signalling that Marvel fans have really taken to all of Oscar Isaac’s on-screen personalities. Just ask this artist whose work takes theMoon Knightall the way to Egypt with a special touch of 1800s post-impressionism.

WhileMs. Marvelwon’t come until summer, the obscure superhero has taken the prime time Wednesday spot on Disney Plus, at leastuntilObi-Wan Kenobimoves it over to Fridaysin late May. However, judging from early reviews,Marvel StudiosMoon Knightis really winning over both critics and fans, partly thanks to the darker side it brings to the MCU and its promising exploration of Egypt.

The latter is precisely what must have inspired digital artist Zascanauta (@zascanauta) to create this truly unique painting featuringMoon Knightstaring at the Giza Pyramids, all beautifully recreated in the style of one Vincent van Gogh. The painting chosen for inspiration is, of course, Van Gogh’s “Starry Night - the painter’s most recognizable painting - to create a stunning scene featuring Marvel Studios' newest superhero. Appropriately, the artist’s piece has been titled “Starry Knight.”

Most of Zascanauta’s work is geared toward creating odd crossovers or mashups of well-known pop culture icons. Examples of this include their “Peacelorian” and “Masterlorian” illustrations of both thePeacemakerandHaloprotagonistsposing asThe Mandalorian. Those who find their art particularly appealing can also head over to Teepublic and buy clothes or other items featuring their designs to support the artist, though at the time of writing this, “Strarry Knight” was not yet available for purchase.

Perhaps the standout element from the artist’s work is the fact thatMoon Knightis on his own, which in itself is a rare feat in the MCU nowadays, as every other Disney Plus series, besidesLoki, wore their ties to other heroes or villains proudly. Keep in mind,Lokifans should probably watchMoon Knightbecause the same directing duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who will handle the former’s second season, are also lined up for twoMoon Knightepisodes.

In the comics,Moon Knightowes his origins partly to DC’s Batman, hence why it’s not surprising to see Isaac bide his time in starry nights, and why Marc Spector’s own troubled historymakes him perfect for wild Mephisto fan theories. Thanks to the series, now even those unfamiliar withMoon Knightcan enjoy special comic book issues made especially for the show.
