Nami isthe navigator of the Straw Hat Piratesand one of the most important members of Luffy’s crew. She joined up with him during the Orange Town arc, however, it wasn’t until after the events of the Arlong Park arc that she truly became a member of the crew. As one of the five main characters from the East Blue, Nami is exceptionally important to the plot.

As the navigator, she’s the only one who can ensure that Luffy gets to Laugh Tale safely. However, that’s not all that she does. Nami is also a competent fighter, although among the weakest in the crew. She mainly makes use of her wits in combat to get the better of her enemies. Surprisingly,One Piece1058 showcased her using Conqueror’s Haki in what appeared to be a gag scene. The question remains, however, could Nami possess this power?
Nami’s Conqueror’s Haki
As fans know, Nami doesn’t wield any form of Haki in the story so far. Haki is a power that Rayleigh described to be the manifestation of the user’s spirit. Every person in theOne Pieceworld possesses Haki, however,not everyone is able to bring this latent skill out. Once awakened to it, Haki can be manifested as the Color of Observation and the Color of Armament.
The Color of Observation grants a certain sixth senseto the user and allows them to sense things like incoming danger, power levels, intent, and emotions, among many other things. The Color of Armament, on the other hand, allows them to manifest their spirit and use it as armor, to both attack and defend. Nami possesses neither of these abilities. Strangely enough, she’s able to hurt Luffy whenever she gets mad at him despite the latter being made of rubber.

Furthermore, inOne Piece1058, after Luffy sailed the Sunny from the top of a giant waterfall, Nami locked him in a cage and, in a fit of anger, showcasedan ability similar to Conqueror’s Haki. This was especially evident from the black lightning emerging from her body. What’s more, even Jinbe, an experienced fighter, was able to tell that the ability that Nami was displaying was the Color of the Supreme King Haki. Without a doubt, Oda drew Nami wielding this power in the previous chapter, however, whether she actually can use it or not remains to be seen.
As many fans pointed out, this scene could merely be a gag on Oda’s part. After all, it would be in line with how Nami hurts Luffy despite him being rubber. However, with an author such as Oda who often makes important plot lines stem from gags, such as Sanji’s nosebleeds and Fishman Island, the possibility that Nami actually wields Haki still exists.
Can Nami Wield The Color Of The Supreme King?
To answer the question of Nami possibly wielding the color of the Supreme King, fans need to look back at her mysterious origins. While not necessarily special, Nami’s true lineage has never been confirmed inOne Piece. She was found by a young Nojiko and, later, the two were found by Bellemere, who adopted them. That’s not to say that Nami’s lineage will come into play in a massive way moving forward. However, this could be important if Oda plans to give Nami Conqueror’s Haki. As revealed by Garp during the Marineford arc, Conqueror’s Haki is a power that can be potentially passed down.
As such, ifNami is from a family of conquerorsor a special race in theOne Pieceworld, this could very well be a latent ability of hers. In fact, Nami has already demonstrated abilities similar to Haki. During the Alabasta Saga, she has shown the ability to tell even the slightest of changes in weather which, according to Vivi, is beyond human comprehension. This ability of hers is quite similar to the Color or Observation, which grants a sixth sense to the user as well.
When it comes to the Color of Armament, Nami has, as seen on several occasions, shown the ability to injure Luffy despite him being made of rubber. While this can be merely treated as a gag on a surface level, it is, in fact, something that she is able to do in the canon of the story. Nami might not have full control over her abilities, however, she certainly has the aptitude to learn them at the highest level. As for the Color of the Supreme King, the previous chapter ofOne Piececertainly hinted at her having this fearsome ability.
Once again, it might as well be a gag from Oda, however, it cannot be forgotten that Nami is a special character with abilities that set her apart from the rest. She has the ambition to draw a chart of all the oceans and make Luffy the Pirate King. For someone with grand dreams such as hers, the power of Conqueror’s Haki isn’t too far-fetched. In the future, Nami might potentially awaken to this power and surprise the fans by becoming one of the very few women with it in theOne Pieceworld.
