The news of the next raid arrived just asPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers ended their battles against Inteleon the Unrivaled.Since the concept of seven-star Tera raid battles was introduced with the ninth generation of Pokemon games, each battle to date has featured a starter Pokemon as the target for trainers to take on. In April, trainers faced off against Samurott and Typhlosion, which were recently featured as starters fromPokemon Legends: Arceus, and recently against Inteleon, who debuted inPokemon Sword and Shield. The battle begins on Friday, May 12, at 00:00 UTC and ends on Sunday, May 14, at 23:59 UTC. A repeat run will occur the following weekend, from May 19 to May 21. Known as the Spiny Armor Pokemon, Chesnaught is the final form of Chespin, the Grass-type starter Pokemon fromPokemon X and Yon the 3DS. While it has been overshadowed byother starters such as Greninja, Chesnaught is a formidable foe from the Kalos region with high physical attack and defense stats, and a versatile move pool to pick from.
Like other seven-star Tera raid bosses inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, Chesnaught will have the Mightiest Mark and will have its Hidden Ability. In this case, Bulletproof makes Chesnaught immune to bomb and ball moves, such as Energy Ball and Aura Sphere. Chesnaught’s signature move is Spiky Shield, which protects it from damage and hurts an attacking Pokemon that uses physical contact moves. As a bulky physical attacker, Chesnaught may also use additional moves such as Seed Bomb, Stone Edge, Close Combat, and Earthquake. However, Rock-type Pokemon are weak to Grass, Water, Ground, Steel, and Fighting-type attacks, soa strong Pokemon like Annihilapeor a defensive wall such as Corviknight may help trainers take down the Spiny Armor Pokemon.
