The third season ofThe Boyshas done an expert job at building up the tension across the board. Judging by the release of its latest teaser, it sure sounds like they’re building to an epic climax.
From the inclusion offallen icon Soldier Boyto Homelander losing his mental stability minute by minute toThe Boysthemselves being split down the middle, season 3 has brought conflict at every turn. All that matters now is if the show can stick the landing as it approaches the season’s finale.

On the show’s personal Twitter account,The Boysgave a 28-second teaser of what’s to come in the upcoming season finale. It ultimately does not reveal a lot of what’s to come, but it does set the stage for a final fight between the show’s main characters. The teaser first shows Black Noir back at Vought Tower sharpening his sword with Homelander telling him that no matter how long he sharpens it, it would not damage Soldier Boy in the slightest. We then get a split-second cut showing every single main character as Hughie says, “We have to save everyone. Even if they don’t deserve it. Especially if they don’t deserve it.” The two shots in the teaser showwhat looks like Billy Butcherand Homelander squaring off in what could be a final battle between the two mortal enemies once and for all.
What many will speculate is who exactly Hughie is talking to, and who exactly is he saving someone from? Homelander’s public image may have just been shattered once and for all now that he’s admitted on camera that he killed SuperSonic and that he will kill Hughie next if Starlight does not follow his rules. Also, now that it’s been revealed that Soldier Boy is, in fact, Homelander’s biological father, maybe the two of them will team up to destroy everyone at Vought, given that Vought has betrayed both of their trust one too many times to count. It also may serve as a reminder that, in spite ofHughie’s questionable choices onThe Boys, he still is a hero at heart who wants to do what’s right and knows when to draw the line.
There is so much at play here for everyone involved. Even though Homelander is growing less and less stable by the day, he just found out that he may not have been so alone after all at the top. Soldier Boy still has one former member of his team to attack - Black Noir - who he did not respect and would attack if he fell out of line. Butcher just realized that taking the V-24 drug is destroying his brain but is keeping that information from Hughie as they try to succeed ingetting rid of Homelanderonce and for all. Starlight is still out trying to expose Vought while Frenchie and Kimiko are wrestling with what they want in life.
No matter what happens, it appears that the finale ofThe Boysseason 3 will have long-term consequences on the story itself. Too much has happened for things to go back to the status quo at this point. Don’t be surprised if one or multiple characters that the audience has gotten to know for these past three seasons die in the finale. There’s too much at stake from different sides for everyone to come out on the other end alive. If that is how it turns out in the end, then the show may lose the respect of its viewers.
