Screenshots began circulating on social media late Thursday afternoon that that may be from theOverwatch 2cinematic trailer for Kiriko, the long-awaited Kanezaka Fox Girl. According to PC Gamer, a YouTube account named “Kuriboh cervantes” that claims no ties to Blizzard uploaded the incomplete Spanish trailer for Kiriko, but the video has been taken down by a copyright claim from the publisher. The leaked video shows her weapons, two knives that have healing properties when damage is done, a movement ability similar to a Genji or Moira dash, a summoning blue torii gates ability that supposedly apply a damage buff, and a speed boost to allies like Lucio’s Crossfade and Junkerqueen’s Rampage. This is assumed to be her ultimate ability and her other moves line up withpreviously shared details about her abilities inOverwatch 2.
There have been many assumptions and leaks about what Kiriko could look like, including a veryelaborate fakeOverwatch 2hero select screen renderof her. These screenshots are being spread online, but all that can be assumed from these images are that she either works in a bakery, donut shop, or the Kanezaka Cat Cafe, and her eyes appear to be a part of casting her powers. It can be assumed that this unfinished trailer is being prepared for a massive reveal before theOverwatch 2Early Access launch.
Kiriko, Kanazaka Fox Girl, or whatever they will be called has been hinted at and teased, almost for years at this point. The interest in the new Support hero has been high but has had moments of controversy. Thebiggest controversy is that her release will be tied toOverwatch’snew battle passsystem. In the past, new heroes were just released into the live game when theOverwatchdevelopers felt it was right. WithOverwatch 2going free to play and converting to a battle pass system as part of a new monetization practice, there has been some concern about how some players will earn Kiriko and other future heroes.
Overwatch 2releases on October 4 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
