From revealing the anime adaptation that’s set to air later this week to finally announcing a full sequel titledNEO: The World Ends With You, fans of the handheld JRPG have been getting special treatment from the publisher that’s been slowly growing ever since the release ofThe World Ends With You: Final Remixon Nintendo Switch in 2018. With the anime set to premiere later this week, a deleted tweet has implied that new info forNEO: The World Ends With Youis coming after its broadcast.
NEO: The World Ends With Youwas announced in November 2020 to coincide with the release of the second trailer for the anime adaptation. The game has been described both as a sequel and a remake, reimagining the original game’s version of Shibuya in 3D and revamping its combat system. The game featuresthe return of characters from the original gamesuch as Sho Minamoto and Koki Kariya, as well as a character from the Nintendo Switch version’s extended story content.

A tweet from the officialThe World Ends With You: The AnimationTwitter account, spotted by Twitter user “xenosaga7,” claimed that the Japanese broadcast ofThe World Ends With You: The Animation’s first episode will include new information for the “new game.” As far as fans are aware, this could only be referring to its sequel, which is slated for release in “Summer 2021,” which is quickly approaching. The game is slated to release on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch and will markthe franchise’s debut on a PlayStation console. It appears fans are overdue for news on the upcoming title considering the only information regarding the game is the trailer Square Enix released all the way back in November.
The World Ends With You: The Animationisa full anime adaptation of the original Nintendo DS RPGthat is set to debut on April 9th, 2021, with a Japanese special broadcast set to air on April 2nd. The anime is being produced by Domerica and Shin-Ei Animation and will stream in English on Funimation.
