MultiVersusupdate 1.03 is coming today, adding Rick Sanchez to the roster of playable fighters while also making controversial changes to the game’s XP and progression.MultiVersushas seen regular updates since its launch last month, with many more in the pipeline. Some of these updates have been greeted with open arms by fans, but the latest update is proving to be rather divisive so far.
MultiVersusfans haven’t had the chance to play as Rick just yet and formulate their opinions of him, but it’s always nice to have a new character join the roster in a crossover fighting game like this. But whileRick’s addition to theMultiVersusrosteris likely to be well-received, the XP changes have already been criticized by fans.

As ofMultiVersusupdate 1.03, it’s going to take players twice the amount of XP to level up characters from three to 15. TheMultiVersusupdate 1.03 patch notes explain that this change was made to make the leveling process “more of a journey.” Regardless of the reasoning, this move has resulted in some swift backlash against the game, as evident by the general reaction on sites like Twitter and Reddit.
Ultimately, this will mean that it will take longer forMultiVersusplayersto unlock all the perks for their chosen characters. This could put new players at a disadvantage when compared to those who were able to level their characters prior to the XP requirement being doubled. Considering the backlash this decision has received, it will be interesting to see if the changes are walked back, or if the developers stick to their guns and keep the XP requirement where it is.
There will be plenty moreMultiVersusupdates in the future that could tweak the experience further, maybe finding a middle ground between doubling the XP requirement and players leveling up too fast. Future updates will add new characters like Black Adam and Stripe fromGremlins, as well as the long-awaitedArcade and Ranked modes, though release date information for that content has yet to be announced at the time of this writing.
WhileMultiVersusfans wait for more info on what future updates have in store for the game, they can try their hand at Rick Sanchez.Rick is an Expert-level character, meaning he costs 3,000 coins to unlock, so fans should keep that in mind.
