MultiVersuswas originally scheduled to wrap up its open beta and launch Season 1 last week, but plans changed and the Season 1 start date was pushed back. This gave fans a little more time to complete theMultiVersusopen beta Battle Pass, but some were still disappointed that they had to wait longer than expected to jump into new content. Now the wait is coming to an end, asMultiVersusSeason 1 is set to kick off later today, August 15.

In anticipation ofMultiVersusSeason 1, developer Player First Games has published comprehensive patch notes detailing what fans can expect when the new season kicks off. Notably, Season 1 will not start with all the changes detailed in the patch notes, but a second update will be coming a bit later on to implement the rest of them. Many characters are being tweaked in response to feedback from the beta, buffing and nerfing them as necessary while also addressing exploits tied to their abilities.

The tweaks to theMultiVersusrostermay shake up the meta a bit, but what may be of more interest to fans is the free character rotation. After the update goes live later today and until August 30, the free characters inMultiVersuswill be Arya Stark fromGame of Thrones, Batman, LeBron James, and Steven fromSteven Universe. AnyMultiVersusplayers who grew attached to the free characters they’ve been playing as in the open beta will need to fork over gold coins if they want to keep playing as them.

Soon,MultiVersusfans will have even more characters to play as. It’s been teased thatBlack Adam from DC Comics and Stripe fromGremlinswill be joining the lineup of playable fighters, though they are currently without release dates. In the more immediate future,MultiVersusplayers will be able to play as Morty ofRick and Mortyfame. Morty is scheduled to joinMultiVersuson August 23, and it’s possible that day will bring with it some of the other changes that didn’t make the cut for the initial Season 1 update.

It has yet to be specified exactly what content is going to be held back until later, but fans will find out when theMultiVersusSeason 1 update goes live later today. Bare minimum,MultiVersusfans can expect new game modes and new cosmetics with the initial update, as well as access to the new Battle Pass. TheMultiVersusSeason 1 Battle Passis super-sized compared to the open beta Battle Pass, which only had 15 tiers versus the 50 tiers available in Season 1.

Glossary and Terms:

Note: Attacks callouts reference default controls.

Arya

The goal of these changes was to make Arya’s combos be more consistent and successful at lower skill levels.

Bugs Bunny

Bugs Bunny is a bit too safe in everything he does. We’ve given him some additional whiff punish windows to help address this.

Finn

Fighting against Finn felt too difficult as Finn felt a bit too safe and could throw out attacks without much fear of a punish due to how quickly he recovered. Hurt/Hit box foundational updates are coming soon, but will not be in this patch.

Reindog

Shaggy

Shaggy’s Side Special felt a little too unpunishable, so we’ve added a bit of Whiff Recovery.

Superman

Taz

This is the start of our tornado changes for Taz. We will be continuing to monitor the tornado with extra scrutiny in case additional changes are needed.

Tom And Jerry
