After being revealed in the summer of 2020, the long wait for the full reveal of Spawn inMortal Kombat 11finally came to an end over the weekend. While the Final Kombat even didn’t go quite as planned due to the coronavirus, Ed Boon and Keith David were still on hand to showcase the highly anticipated trailer. Fans got a great look atSpawn including his comic faithful set of moves, different outfits, as well as a brutal fatality. However, the trailer also did something a bit different than previous ones that NetherRealm has done in the past.
This weekend’s latest DLC trailer forMortal Kombat 11removed the traditional music from the game and instead featured a neat little surprise for fans of the metal band, Trivium. Following Spawn’s reveal, it was confirmed that the trailer also premiered clips of two different tracks from the upcoming Trivium album.

The confirmation actually came from Trivium singer and guitarist Matt Heafy on Twitter. Responding to theMortal KombatSpawn announcement, Heafy expressed his excitement over his bands inclusion into the trailer, also revealing that he grew up with both Spawn andMortal Kombat. The two songs featured in the trailer are called IX and Scattering The Ashes, two currently unreleased tracks. However, interested fans won’t have to wait too long to hear more as these tracks are coming later this year on Trivium’s next album, What The Dead Men Say.
What’s interesting about this inclusion is the collaboration going on. Trivium is actually under the music label Roadrunner Records, which is a company that’s owned by Warner Bros. As fans know, NetherRealm Studios is also owned by Warner Bros, so while the music certainly fits the trailer, this was a unique marketing opportunity for Warner Bros.
While fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next Trivium album, Spawn fans only have one more week to wait for one of the most anticipated characters inMortal Kombathistory. March 17 is when Kombat Pack owners can go hands on withthe Hellspawn and his various outfits. The trailer revealed a couple of options including Spawn’s original look. A PlayStation Blog article also revealed a few more including his Iconic look, Commando outfit, and a custom look that turns the character into a hellish knight.
Mortal Kombat 11is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
