343 Industries has not officially announced its plans for aHalo Infinitebattle royale mode. That hasn’t prevented a variety of leaks surrounding the project from being shared online, however. The battle royale mode, codename Tatanka, is rumored to be arriving either withHalo InfiniteSeason 3 later this year or in early 2023. There’s even a new leak revealing aHalo InfiniteTatanka menu that could indicate the battle royale’s development is moving forward at an impressive rate. The leak, shared online by the HaloHubGG Twitter account but left unsourced, includes an image but no additional context. The image shows what appears to be an in-game screenshot of aHalo Infinitemenu. The menu features five different options, each for a differentTatanka battle royalequeue. The queues available to select are for Tatanka Triples, Tatanka Quads, Tatanka 3P Test, Test Tatanka Triples, and Test Taanka FFA. There’s also a quote along the bottom of the image reading, “Welcome to the Ring. Emerge victorious by being the last player standing.“RELATED:Rumor: Halo Infinite Could Be Getting ‘Huge’ Battle Royale Mode on Level of CoD WarzoneWhile no context is provided for the image, it’s safe to draw a conclusion regarding where the image is from – or at least where it’s supposed to look like it’s from. The screenshot is assumedly from a test version of eitherHalo Infiniteor the standalone Tatanka battle royale app. It’s possible the Tatanka test is just a series of playlist options withinHalo Infinite, but it seems more likely Tatanka will bestandalone likeCall of Duty: Warzone, if only to help players manage their installation size.
The different options are unlikely to be the finalHalo Infinitebattle royale queue options. Rather, they’re likely in-development tests for queues so343 Industriescan see what works and what needs improvements. Since there are three 3-player test queues, it’s certainly not a finalized list of queue options.
As for any conclusions that can be drawn from the leaked image, it’s perhaps safe to assume that development has moved forward far enough for 343 to begin confirming which queue options to include in the game. That there are queue options at all implies that development ofHalo Infinite’s battle royaleis progressing smoothly.
There are unfortunately no firm assertions that can be made based on the leak, and it could even have been faked. There’s still no official confirmation thatHalo Infinitehas a battle royale in development, either, so there’s no way to confirm whether development is progressing on schedule or not. It certainly seems real, though, and it will be exciting if and when343 does get around to announcing theHalo Infinitebattle royale.
Halo Infiniteis available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
