Whenever Capcom introduces a new addition to itsMonster Hunterseries, there will always be several new features that will make the title stand out from its predecessors. InMonster Hunter Rise, theWirebug and its Silkbind Attackswere one of the biggest gameplay factors that have changed the way hunters take down monsters. Now, in the upcomingSunbreakDLC, new Silkbind Attacks will be introduced, likely as a way to aid hunters as they fight stronger monsters inMH Rise’s Master Rank.
Most veterans of the action RPG series would have likely already expected that an expansion toMH Risewould be announced eventually. And true enough, Capcom announced thepaid DLCSunbreakin September 2021. The devs gave more details about the expansion during Tokyo Game Show 2021, where they also relayed information that the title will be heading to Steam in January 2022. This trend follows the age-oldMonster Hunterseries practice of releasing a separate expansion that adds another difficulty level to the game, including additional leveled-up weapons and armor, new quests, and stronger foes.

Interestingly, the news aboutMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakadding new Silkbind Attacks broke through the game’s official Japanese Twitter account. No details were shared by the team in the simple post, just that players should look forward to the new moves that will be added in the expansion. Given that Silkbind Attacks change depending on eachMonster Hunter Riseweaponused by a player, it is possible that the expansion will provide several new techniques per weapon. This will likely be very helpful to hunters, especially since they will be facing the new Elder Dragon Malzeno once the DLC is released.
Aside from this recent piece of news about theMH Rise: SunbreakDLC, Capcom has not been revealing that much detailed information about the expansion. The team seems to be focusing more on partnering with other video game franchises to provide post-launch content such as theSonic the Hedgehogcollaboration event quests, and more. On social media, most of the posts simply share basic news about the game’s current events, and talk about the lore and ecology around Kamura Village.
With 2022 coming soon, hunters are likely excited to hear news about the official release date ofMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Given that the title’s launch is slated for Summer 2022, Capcom will likely reveal the actual date in the early months of that year. Fans will just have to wait for official news from the development team themselves.
Monster Hunter Riseis available now on Nintendo Switch, and will launch on PC this June 20, 2025.
