Minecraft Dungeonsplayers are getting their first glimpse at the Cloudy Climb update, the start of a new era for the game. When first released, it featured a more linear and condensed story, but afternumerousMinecraft DungeonsDLC packsthere’s much more to discover. Cloudy Climb marks the beginning of its seasonal adventures, a new direction Mojang Studios is taking in an effort to keep things fresh. This new information gives players a better idea of what they can expect from the first seasonal adventure, but also provides some insight about how seasonal adventures will work as a whole.

As the name implies, these seasonal adventures forMinecraft Dungeonswill be updated somewhat frequently by Mojang. During a season, players will have the opportunity to earn unique rewards by getting Adventure Points and increasing their Adventure Rank. The whole thing is set up similarly to a battle pass system.

Cloudly Climb’s main focus is adding more end game content for player to enjoy. The base story and DLCs will remain mostly untouched, but players will have a theoretically endless amount of content to enjoy after completing it. The major draw here is The Tower, a new game mode where players will scale a massive tower. Each floor of this tower will be procedurally generated, and there’s one more catch. Rather than taking in their own equipment, players will start off each run like a blank slate, and must grow more powerful as they climb higher. This is reminiscent ofroguelite games likeReturnalorHades.

That said, the rewards gained from this tower are permanent and can be taken back into other areas of the game.Players will increase their Adventure Rankby completing daily and weekly challenges to earn emotes, cosmetics, and other items. At the very least, this will definitely help to provide some direction to players that have already beaten everything and don’t have much reason to come back to the game.

The cherry on top of it all is that this new seasonalMinecraft Dungeonscontent is completely freeto players. There will be an option to spend real money in order to unlock better rewards from the Adventure Rank system, but it is not required by any means. Players can expect to see the update roll out sometime this holiday season, which is surprisingly soon considering the scope of the event. There’s still no word on how long a season will last and what will happen to season specific content once the season ends, so players should stay tuned to learn more.
