With the recent announcement fromEA Motive and Marvel Entertainment, fans are already preparing for what could be a great installment and fresh entry into theIron Manfranchise. A new single-player experience from a triple-A developer could be enthralling to Iron Man fans, and withMarveltradition, hopefully, plenty of recognizable characters enter the limelight.

As one of Marvel’s most popular characters, it’s no surprise thatIron Manhas a history with some of the universe’s best characters. The game should follow similar strides to Insomniac Games’Spider-Man, and bring faithful, but new, adaptions of fan-favoritecharacters from theIron Manmythos.
8Captain America
One of Marvel’s strongest and most hopeful characters is Steve Rogers, Captain America. The character has ties with the early Marvel universe,fighting in World War 2 as a super soldier. His friendship with Tony’s father left a hole in the relationship between father and son and led to resentment from Tony Stark toward Captain America.
Nevertheless, their bond grew, and the two heroes forged the Avengers. There was always a deeplayer of brotherhoodbetween the two, and their friendship was bolstered through the many rivalries that would arise. Seeing their friendship unfold in a video game could lead to great experiences, and maybe a co-op one.
7Hank Pym
One of thegreatest scientific minds in the Marvel Universeis Hank Pym. Thanks to the discovery of the Pym Particles, Hank was able to shrink himself and things to a subatomic level. The original Ant-Man in theIron Mangame would show how the Marvel history continues, even when the game is not running. It would also show a deep routed bond in the scientific minds of Tony and Hank.
What could be a rather ominous display in the arrival of Hank Pym, is what is to come. It’s well known in the comics that Hank Pym creates Ultron, a great threat to the Avengers which could be hinted at in theIron Mangame like Venom was in theSpider-Mangame.
6Bruce Banner
In the Marvel fandom, the friendship of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark is often referred to as “Science Bros”. This comes from the scientific background of the two and is a friendship that could be a lot of fun to see in anIron Mangame. As many will know, Bruce Banner cantransform into the Incredible Hulkupon negative emotions such as rage.
Perhaps emotional conflicts will lead to Tony trying to calm his friend down from being the Hulk, and a fun boss battle against a rage-filled friend would ensue. Not only would Bruce Banner be good for his scientific mind, but for hisdestructive fists as the Hulk.
5Nick Fury
Few characters in the Marvel Universe have an eye on everything, and Nick Fury is one of them. There isn’t a pie in the Marvel Universe that Nick Fury does not have his fingers in, and his knowledge and protection of Earth demand the utmost respect and discretion.
Nick Fury is a calculating man, and the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. the entry of Nick Fury into the EA Motive game, opens the possibility for a much larger world, in which S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are amongst the people, and Nick Fury is trying to recruit Iron Man as an Avenger.
4Pepper Potts
One of the oldest characters in the Iron Man comics is Pepper Pots, who first appeared inTales of Suspenseissue 45 in 1963. The character has long since evolved and has become the main romantic interest of Tony Stark. Beginning as apersonal assistant to Tony, she soon became the superhero Rescue and was infatuated with Tony.

By including Pepper Potts in the game, there would be more stakes involved, as the player will have someone that Tony Stark truly cares about. The inclusion of Pepper opens romantic interest and a deeper emotional story for the game rather than just blaster fire and iron armor.
3The Mandarin
Iron Man is no stranger to villains, and he has plenty of rogues that would seek to serve both Iron Man and Tony Stark an adversary. Few enemies are as deadly and cunning as the Mandarin, a character known to be the vicious and unrelenting nemesis of Iron Man in the comics.
By including the Mandarin, the game opens up further possibilities of conflict and enemies to fight, whilst also bringing justice to both characters and the hero/villain relationship that the Marvel Cinematic Universe seemed to lack for Iron Man.
2Happy Hogan
In issue 45 ofTales of Suspense, Happy Hogan made his debut. A character that is nearing 60 years old, and remains one of Tony Stark’s most loyal friends. Their bond began when Happy Hogan ignored the risks and pulled Tony Stark from the wreckage of a crashed racetrack car. Stark offered the man a job as a chauffeur and bodyguard, and later, a friend.
Happy may not be Tony’s longest and best friend, but he certainly is one of the most loyal. Happy Hogan was a memorable character thanks to Jon Favreau’s performance as the character in the MCU. To see a new portrayal as the companion to Tony in the video game could be an interesting take.
1James “Rhodey” Rhodes
There are few people in the universe that Tony Stark trusts more than Rhodey. He is one of Tony’s oldest friends and a skilled military pilot. Later becoming an aviator engineer for Stark Industries, it wasn’t long before Tony’s confidant and best friend became the hero known as War Machine, an armor made specifically for him.
As War Machine, Rhodey had quite the adventures, both solo, and with Iron Man. Their friendship is a lot of fun, and full of banter just waiting to be replicated in the video game format. It opens up thepossibility for co-op, as Rhodes and Stark would have their iron armor to battle evil with.
